Editorial Review:
Golden Globe award–winning actor Hugh Laurie and his critically acclaimed television show House are at the heart of this compelling biography. From his childhood struggles to live up to his Olympian father’s accomplishments and his Cambridge education to his comedic career with Emma Thompson and personal struggle with depression, Laurie’s past and present are revealed in illuminating detail. Not just a biography, this is a one-stop shop for all things House that features full episode guides and analyses, actor biographies, interviews with Canadian creator and executive producer David Shore, production bloopers, and medical mistakes that only a sleuth like Dr. House could expose.
The House That Hugh Laurie Built: An Unauthorized Biography and Episode Guide Reviews:
Inside Dr House
2009-07-20 - It is interesting to know about the people who are behind Dr House. All those tips about the actors and actresses. Knowing about the chapters and all about inside them to understand them makes them more interesting
I am crazy about Hugh Laurie
2009-03-07 - I have not had time to read my book on Hugh Laurie yet,but I am really looking forward to it!Perhaps I can share it with you after I get a chance to read it. I am very satisfied with the service I have recieved at Amazon.com. Very good service,I always tell my friends they should order their movies and other things from Amazom. Thank you, cmalam
Disappointed
2009-02-18 - After reading this book, I found many things wrong. For instance, the Band from TV female singer's name is Bonnie Somerville, not Lisa Somerville. The author needed to have the correct information before writing this book. I did enjoy the episode guide. I would not recommend this book for true HOUSE fans.
The House that Hugh Laurie Built
2009-01-19 - This was an alright purchase, I didn't love it but I didn't hate it either. The episode guides were pretty good and I liked the way they were broken down to highlight some of Hugh's best lines in the show. However the bios of the actors weren't really that informative and I did notice a few errors in the episode guides that I was surprised to see.
I'd recommend this book (on sale if you can nab it that way) for the people needing to remind themselves of what has happened this far but if you are just joining House and are looking for a book that retells the first 3 seasons to catch you up then this is not the book for you.
Nothing New About Hugh
2008-03-21 - I'm a big fan of everything Hugh Laurie, particularly House, and Jeeves and Wooster. This 'autobiography' was a complete waste of money, without a single redeeming feature. There are no original interviews with Hugh or other cast members of House. The 'biographer' seems to have relied on Google as his primary research tool.
