Editorial Review:
2002 debut album for duo comprised of musician/vocalist Imogen Heap & producer/arranger/songwriter/musician Guy Sigsworth (who's worked with Bjork on 'Homogenic' & 'Vespertine' & Madonna on 'What It Feels Like for a Girl').

Description of Details:
Named after the French word for the rustle of silk, Frou Frou's debut album exudes cool, stylish elegance. Singer Imogen Heap's soft, whispery vocals intone dreamy lyrics of doomed romances and slow recoveries. The songs are penned by Heap and her partner, producer Guy Sigsworth (Björk, Madonna), who manned the board on Heap's 1998 solo album I Megaphone. Even the mighty Brian Eno gets into the act, with a cowriting credit on the soul-bearing "Hear Me Out." In fact, all 11 tracks deal with love and fractured relationships, hauntingly beautiful both in their stark emotional content and the equally sparse arrangements that showcase Heap's ethereal voice, which she uses as a subtle weapon, much like Joni Mitchell circa 1970's Ladies of the Canyon, with the same heart-stopping yet effortless octave leaps. --Jaan Uhelszki

Sheer Chilled Pleasure 5 Star Review
2009-10-16 - I just recently discovered this gem of an album and I have to say, better late than never! As a fan of any strong female vox (ie: McLachlan, Margo Timmons, Hope Sandoval, Beth Gibbons, Fiona Apple to name a few), I was instantly drawn to Heap's melodic and bold lyrics of life and love. This album is more of the 'chilled pop' genre to me.. it can easily be listened to in the background as well as up front and center with it's catchy subtle rhythms. It'll make you move like ripples in water; very fluid. I never tire of it and it never gets old. I highly recommend this album and can only hope that Frou Frou makes more beautiful music together.

always great 5 Star Review
2009-08-11 - I really love this album. I have had it several years and it is still one of my favorites. Her voice is amazing and the lyrics are also great. It is a very unique listening experience and you will enjoy it if you like chillout/ambient music as well as if you're into female singer-songwriters with introspective lyrics.

This is one of those albums that you can listen to in its entirety, not just pick a song or two off, because there is so much junk. The whole thing fits together in a nice piece and is very enjoyable. If you have heard one of the singles, like the one from Garden State, you will like the rest of the album.

Relaxing... 5 Star Review
2009-04-10 - So relaxing, smooth, jazzy & easy listening appeal. Frou Frou has a classic voice. This particular album is the perfect driving music to listen to after leaving work.

Inconsistently stunning but altogether very good 3 Star Review
2009-03-15 - 3 1/2

Yes, it all cannot live up to the intensely and dramatically beautiful starting track (with a few more included), nor does it try to. But with layered, intelligent production, and Heap's personal delivery, even casual mid-tempo numbers closer to autopilot resonate with authenticity.

Good album...not great. 4 Star Review
2009-03-09 - Good music. Only a couple really great songs. I wish the whole album was in the "great" category...unfortuantely this one is not.
