A Crow Left of the Murder Reviews:
Amazing as usual, I wouldn't expect anything less 5 Star Review
2008-04-22 - Incubus is my all time favorite band ever...yes...ever. They write intelligent music in every album and this one is no different. Amazing and intelligent in every chord, word, and hit of the drums. Just fabulous.

This album is amazing. Face the facts, Kids. 5 Star Review
2007-11-21 - Every song is worth checking out and I can't say that about ANY of their other albums. At first, I thought this was weird and many of the tracks were disposable. Boy, was I so f'in wrong.

Brandon's vocals and harmonies are laced with the most-awesome, comforting qualities I've yet to hear in other rock bands. I find that they are a true Rock band. No one comes close.

Sure Coldplay, old Maroon 5 and Evanescence are decent but they don't come close. Well, maybe Maroon 5 does back in their prime in 2002 with Songs About Jane but that's it.

I love all of the songs.

My favorites however, in order are:

Made For TV Movie (one of their very best. Sexy to a tee)
Here In My Room (has ALWAYS been a fav of mine. Love the slowed-down, soothing and lulling effect...)
Agoraphobia (paranoia in tact. wonderful, wonderful background harmonizing later on.)
Talk Shows On Mute (Very truthful)
Megalomaniac (heavier than expected. Love the f-bombs. \m/)
Smile Lines (Great in spades. "Never act my age... So insecurity!)

and the bonus DVD has footage of interviews and a few performances:

4.5 stars (album)
4 stars (video footage)

4.6 stars.

end note: i watched some of the videos tonight (1 1/2 interviews (went somewhere) and about 3-4 performances. i may watch the others soon but so far the footage was good, and the interviews cool but i wanted more. the concerts could've been more passion-filled. not that they didn't show enjoyment but it was most brandon digging in.
the final score doesn't reflect an average. it's actually what i think of the package as a whole.

Amazing 5 Star Review
2006-01-01 - It did take me a while to get this latest piece of art from this amazing band, but it's happened. While I instantly loved S.C.I.E.N.C.E., Make Yourself, and Mourning View, it took me a few listens to absolutly love this album. When I first listened to it, the first, and only song that felt like Incubus was Megalomaniac. That dissapointed me, because its the album opener. But after my latest listen, I listened more critically, and now relize that this is yet another Incubus classic. The songs have a grand structure that their other albums lacked. They are less poppy, and more gritty sounding. The one HUGE problem I have with the album is that the bass is hardly audiable through Mike Einziger loud guitars. Einziger's work is among his best on this album, don't get me wrong, he's one of my favorite guitarists. The drumming is insanly fast and well paced and varried. Boyd's vocals are perfect for the songs, and his lyrics are refreshingly different. Incubus is one of the most talented bands in this day and age of no-talent acts. The fact that they change through every album they make proves they have a vast array of musical varriety. i hope that their new album (supposedly coming out late this year) is as good as this, and past releases. The album closer asks "The Ride's Over/ Did You...Enjoy Yourself??".....yes Incubus, yes i did.
Track Highlites:
Megalomaniac
Agoraphobia
Talk Shows on Mute
Sick, Sad, Little World
Pistola
Zee Deveel

Fan of Incubus or rock? Get this. 5 Star Review
2005-07-14 - This CD is very good from start to finish. And it's got a little bit of what makes Incubus good. Despite being a little more slowed down than their previous CDs, "A Crow Left of The Murder" is still very good. [Not to mention the clever title]
The CD mostly contains alternative rock sounding songs like "Talk Shows on Mute" or "Agoraphobia". And then of course there's a more hard rock sound on "Megalomaniac" which has a nice little intro as well. Favorite song has to be "Southern Girl" [dare i say ballad??] which is also would fall into that alternative rock sound. Weirder songs like "Zee Deveel" and "Sick Sad Little World" just remind you why you liked Incubus in the first place.
One of my favorite CDs because of it's Red-Hot-Chili-Pepper like variety.

Not afraid 4 Star Review
2005-03-16 - Incubus is one of the best because they are not afraid to take chances and mix things up. I'd highly recommend this album, along with Morning View. This album is a little harder than Morning View, but still has some softer songs thrown in. A true artist, Brandon writes thought provoking, beautiful poetry and turns it into great music. A true creative genius, he also collaborates on the bands art.
