No Prayer for the Dying Reviews:
Do NOT download Track 1 "Tailgunner"
2008-09-01 - Beware of DOWNLOADING Track 1 "Tailgunner" it is actually Track 2 "Holy Smoke". If you don't believe me listen to the preview for both Tracks 1 & 2 they are exactly the same. They both play the preview for "Holy Smoke". I have notified CDNOW over a week ago and they still haven't fixed the problem.
This review has nothing to do with the music it is only meant to warn people not to download Track 1. You will only be disappointed.
this is a changing of the guard but it will lead to more changing still
2008-08-06 - first many were not going to give this lp a chance because of adrian leaving and jarnick replacing him.I saw them during this tour and hes not adrian but jarnick is cappable guitarist and full of energy.this cd is very good but shows the signs of the times to many other bands have taken the spot the maiden used to have not for a dozen other band of massive selling power, stage shows and fan bases(metalica, megadeth, slayerand many more)these bands were very influenced buy maiden but at this time huge and more aggressive and younger.maiden had released a great lp but the market was flooded with slayer, anthrax, magadeth.testamant, pantera and danzig the same month and tours at the same times with anthrax opening for maiden. I remember vividly maiden looked low energy and tired after anthrax left the stage but in retrospect they were great and showed alot of energy from the of the 7th son tour.alot of these songs have great power and old school maiden style but it seamed to get over looked.one of the last classic iron maiden cds put out adrians back now but they don't seam to have the old niche and energy as this release did.
Not SO Bad!! Give it a listen before judging!!
2008-07-27 - This album, while quite mediocre compared to Maidens masterpieces Number of the Beast and AMOLAD, still shines in its own right with Tailgunner, Mother Russia, the Assassin and Bring Your Daughter... being my top picks.
Uninspired
2008-07-20 - After two synth based albums, there was much talk about a "back to the roots" one, but what we got was probably the least inspired Bruce Dickinson era record Maiden has ever released. The production is slick, the songwriting is none, the performance as a whole is miserable. A completely forgettable album, period. Not surprisingly, Bruce and Adrian left the band shortly after the promo tour. But hey, how low can you go? The next move was to hire a nobody to sing and put out two of the worst albums in heavy metal history ever, X-Factor and Virtual XI.
maiden
2008-03-24 - first off let me state that all bruce/maiden cd's are 4.5 - 5 stars in my opinion. but everyone likes things differently. just remember getting this on cassette and wearing it out. no not adventurous as the previous 2 cd's, but still a good listen
