  • Editorial Review:
Director Monty Hellman?s tense war drama will grip you from beginning to end. Days before a planned U.S. attack on the Philippines, three American soldiers ? Craig (Jimmie Rodgers), an officer with conflicted feelings about war, Burnett (Jack Nicholson), the radio operator, and Jersey (John Hackett), the capable fellow-in-arms, go ashore to do reconnaissance on the Japanese forces. But not only does the enemy learn of their presence, their radio is also destroyed, putting all U.S. troops gathered in the Philippines in danger. Depending on each other as well as a group of Filipino resistance fighters, the three struggle against formidable odds to complete their mission.

    Back Door to Hell Reviews:
I like Your Idea About Play Dirty 3 Star Review
2006-11-02 - Hey I like that idea about releasing Play Dirty, wheres it at????? I think that movie is awesome, of course it looses its punch after the first viewing but man what a great film for war film buffs. No clue about this movie with the Jackster but its never on TV so it must be pretty bad. Jack was just starting so you can't blame him.

Gritty WWII Island Adventure 4 Star Review
2006-10-19 - This is a gritty WWII adventure set in the Philippines before General MacArthur's return. Standard formula has Jimmy Rodgers and Jack Nicholson sent to take out a Japanese communications center. Dialogue is at a minimum and the story is told almost entirely visually. Jack Nicholson sure looks young and Jimmy Rodgers looks as though he could have made a career as an actor.

Very poor acting 1 Star Review
2006-08-18 - Boring movie, with very wooden actors.
Give this one a pass over, it took me 3 separate viewings to get through the whole movie. The acting was so monotone it kept putting me to sleep.
It would be nice if they could get some movies on DVD that deserve to be there.
    Tobruk
    Play Dirty
    Red Ball Express
    None But the Brave
    Just to name a few.
