Editorial Review:
In this tense, late 1960s biker film, one man makes a stand against a sadistic motorcycle gang when the community and even the police fail to help him.
Paul Collier (Cameron Mitchell) is an architect who is planning to propose to his pregnant girlfriend Karen (Diane Ladd), but plans abruptly change when a simple trip to the beach becomes a menacing confrontation between Collier and a biker gang named the Rebels.
It all begins when Paul runs into an old high school buddy, J.J. (Bruce Dern), who has unfortunately fallen in with the gang. When the rest of the bikers arrive, led by Bunny (Jack Nicholson), they take one look at Paul's girlfriend Karen and immediately claim her as their own. J.J. suggests they have drag races to determine who Karen will belong to, promising to let her go free if Paul wins.
Desperate and outnumbered, Paul turns to the community and attempts to round up citizens to help him get Karen back, but he ultimately fails. Now Karen's fate lies in his hands alone, and if Paul hopes to get her back safe and unharmed, he must face the vicious Rebels alone.
Rebel Rousers Reviews:
One of the Worst Biker Films Ever Made
2009-09-15 - This has got to be one of the cheesiest biker films ever made. The plot is thin, and the acting reminds me of a grade school play. I bet Jack Nicholson and Bruce Dern are regretting they were ever involved in this film.
classic biker movie
2009-02-15 - good biker movie with a young jack nickolson. it might not be for everyone. but i enjoyed it
Worst movie in the collection
2008-12-21 - Bad Bad Bad.
I love Nicholson, and I like biker movies.
This was a waste from start to finish.
910 movies in the collection, and this is the #1 worst one.
Rebel Rousers
2008-04-27 - Rebel Rousers is one of the many so-called "Outlaw" biker movies from the late sixties and early seventies. Interesting only, because it shows a young Jack Nickolson, who started his carriere in bikermovies, for which he does not want te be remembered! What can I say? It is amusing, but you forget it after watching!
5 Star BAD!
2008-03-25 - Hilariously bad! I love old Drive-In style biker flicks and this one is even worse than She-Devils On Wheels. A real gem of bad editing (the music is so loud at times you can't hear the dialogue), poor acting & blatant ad-libbing. This movie must have taken a whole week to make. All the bikes are Triumphs but Bruce Dern reads from a Harley-Davidson Service Manual. I loved Nicholson's prison striped pants with the dirty seat and a hole in them. I laughed my but off on this one.
