Enthusiastic, big and a little clumsy, Po works in his family’s noodle shop while daydreaming about becoming a Kung Fu master. His dreams soon become reality when he is unexpectedly chosen to join the world of Kung Fu and study alongside his idols-the legendary fighters Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper and Monkey-under the leadership of their guru, Master Shifu. But before they know it, the vengeful and treacherous snow leopard Tai Lung is headed their way, and it’s up to Po to defend everyone from the oncoming threat. Can he turn his dreams of becoming a Kung Fu hero into reality? Po puts his heart and his girth into the task, and ultimately finds that his greatest weaknesses turn out to be his greatest strengths.

Description of Kung Fu Panda (Widescreen Edition):
What's a panda to do when his dreams of kung-fu awesomeness awake to the cold reality of noodle-making? Clumsy, overweight Po (Jack Black) dreams of becoming a kung fu master like China's revered "furious five," but instead seems destined to follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather in the restaurant business. When great leader Oogway has a vision that the imprisoned kung fu warrior Tai Lung (Ian McShane) will soon escape, he declares it time to choose China's dragon warrior--one kung fu master deemed worthy of possessing the dragon's scroll and its secret to limitless power. Po and all the townspeople rush to the Jade Palace atop the highest mountain to witness the contest between Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Monkey (Jackie Chan), Mantis (Seth Rogan), Crane (David Cross) and Viper (Lucy Liu), but Po is locked outside the palace. After a miracle of sorts, Po lands inside the palace gates, where he is chosen as the dragon warrior and placed under the tutelage of the decidedly non-plussed master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman). An unconventional student to say the least, hilarity reigns as Shifu tries desperately to make Po into some semblance of a kung fu warrior. Can Po possibly fulfill his destiny as dragon warrior, or was Oogway's final decision a critical mistake? A film rich with hilarious moments, superior animation, and an important message about believing in oneself and the power that comes from within, Kung Fu Panda is great entertainment that will have the whole family laughing and begging for more. (Ages 3 and older) --Tami Horiuchi

Kung Fu Panda (Widescreen Edition) Reviews:
Funny and Cute movie 5 Star Review
2009-10-28 - Funny cute animation. Bought this for a girl friend and loved it. Jack Black is hilarious and the movie doesn't get boring!

    Awesome! 5 Star Review
2009-10-26 - I love the crap out of this movie. It's hilarious, the animation is beautiful and it takes everything you'd like from new and old Kung Fu movies to make stunning and action packed fight scenes. The voice talent is great too, though of course Jack Black being the most over the top character in this movie stands out the most. There's a nice underlying message about learning to love one's self that I thought was touching. Good for kids AND adults. A must for any kung fu or animation lover. Go buy it nao.

Kung Fu Panda kicks some serious butt! 5 Star Review
2009-10-25 - Finally!!! An animation about kung fu!! It was about time!
With an influx of animation films to choose from this one was definitely a great find. I think animation should be fun. Animations should also have characters do 'stuff' that live characters cannot. Kung Fu Panda has covered them all with plenty of laugh-out-loud moments with some beautifully exaggerated fight scenes. :) Jack Black brought his distinct comedic style and gave this Panda character and adorable-ness as well as the agility deserving of a kung fu master. I grew up in Hong Kong watching kung fu movies as a part of my regular TV routine and this movie did fantastically in covering the basics of the authentic kung fu film: The underdog who no one believes in, comes through and surprises everyone. There's the serious, yet wise kung fu master. And then there's the wiser kung fu master above him. And of course the funny supporting cast. Perfect. One can never watch enough movies about believing in oneself, can one? So, go out and have some fun! Watch this!

Good kids movie 5 Star Review
2009-10-19 - This was a good kids movie, it didn't keep the attention of my 2 year old as much as other movies, but I really enjoyed the story and the humor of the movie. I do think this movie is worthy of a sequel and may have the following similar to Sherk, so I think it is worthy of another storyline.

Suprisingly good movie - hope they make a sequel 5 Star Review
2009-10-10 - Kung Fu Panda is a story about a fat and lazy panda, named Po, who loves Kung Fu and is tired of his boring life spending all day working in his father's noodle shop. Po is unexpectedly chosen to fulfill an ancient prophecy, Po's dreams become reality when he joins the world of Kung Fu and studies alongside his idols, the legendary Furious Five - Tigress, Viper, Mantis, Crane and Monkey - under the leadership of their Master Shifu. But before they know it, the vengeful and treacherous snow leopard Tai Lung is headed their way, and it's up to Po to defend everyone from the ruthless warrior. Can he turn his dreams of becoming a Kung Fu master into reality? Po puts his heart into the task, and the unlikely hero ultimately finds that his greatest weaknesses turn out to be his greatest strengths.

This film was nominated for an Oscar award in 2009

My family enjoyed this movie very much and I hope they come out with a sequel to Kung Fu Panda.
