Editorial Review:
Packed with quality adult fare, this soundtrack includes Sting's lilting, near-perfect remake of 'The Bed's Too Big Without You' with Ranking Roger, Al Green's 'Give It Everything' (elegantly jazzed for the '90s by Steele & Cox of Fine Young Cannibals fame), and romantic croons from Aaron Neville, Jill Sobule, Paul Weller, and Dionne Farris (covering Stevie Wonder's 'For Once In My Life') and Suzanne Vega's 'Caramel'. Universal. 2006.

The Truth About Cats & Dogs: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Reviews:
Got solely for the great Squeeze song, but the rest is good too
2008-02-26 - "This Road" is a fantastic song from an old favorite band. But the rest of the album features a number of fun tunes from some great artists as well. All in all, a good soundtrack album that enhances a good iTunes library.
hard to find song..
2007-04-27 - I bought this album for 1 very hard to find song. Shipping was more than the CD price.
Junkies highlight great compilation
2006-06-06 - The strength of this disc lies in one of the most beautifully written and arranged songs ever, the Cowboy Junkies' "Angel Mine"....Margo Timmins has one of the most haunting and incredible voices ever.
The collection itself, track for track, is outstanding...hard to go wrong with Paul Weller, Al Green, and Squeeze on one disc...
this does not collect dust
2003-12-30 - this is one of the cds in my collection that is always being played. i wholeheartedly agree with the other reviewers who loved suzanne vega's little song. i wish it were longer, too. as well as the cowboy junkies and ben folds five and sting and al green and and and..... you get the picture.
Better than the Movie
2001-05-02 - While the movie from which this soundtrack was drawn is merely average, the CD itself is far better than it had to be. If you're looking for a sampler of some smart '90s pop, this is a good place to start.
Highlights include contributions from Jill Sobule, Ben Folds Five, Dionne Farris, Suzanne Vega, and Sting. The seldom-heard Ms. Farris provides an excellent and muscular update of Stevie Wonder's "For Once in My Life", and Ms. Vega give us a moody little tune in "Caramel", which only suffers from being too short for my taste. Meanwhile, Sting adds a bit of Caribbean spice to his jazz-rock stylings with "The Bed's Too Big Without You". (This song has also been scorchingly covered by Gretchen Lieberum on her own CD, "Three AM".) And the Brand New Heavies offer an energetic and funky "World Keeps on Spinning".
There's hardly a weak song on this CD (although I could've gone without hearing from the Cowboy Junkies). Even Howard Shores' instrumental theme at the end is undeniably cute.
Give this one a chance if you're looking for some sly and wry songs about the follies of romance.
