    Description of My Girl:
A doomed Macaulay Culkin becomes the object of affection for a little girl (Anna Chlumsky), estranged from her widowed father (Dan Aykroyd). This somewhat daring premise has various emotional buffers to keep young viewers from going into shock from Culkin's demise, but the film is also not shut off from real feelings. And while the story remains safely predictable, at the end of the day it is still a bittersweet experience. Culkin's performance is okay in that somewhat mannered way of his post-Home Alone career, but Anna Chlumsky is unusually sophisticated in her understanding of her character and situation. Aykroyd and Jamie Lee Curtis are perfectly stable as the kids' single parents. Directed by Howard Zieff (Private Benjamin). The DVD release has a full-screen presentation, Dolby sound, theatrical trailer, and optional French and Spanish soundtracks. --Tom Keogh

    My Girl Reviews:
Memories of my childhood 5 Star Review
2009-09-30 - This movie is unforgettable. I watched it a million times during my childhood. I loved Vada so much that I used to run a fansite about Anna Chlumsky and I even had a mood ring just like hers. OMG!!! It's been and will always be THE MOVIE! LOLOLOLOL I can't believe I found this DVD on Amazon, because it is no longer available in Brazil.

Nice little film... 1 Star Review
2009-05-12 - A nice little film that deals seriously with childhood loss. Too bad Sony chose to release this in an abridged pan and scan. But hey, if you don't care about all that Sony cut out of the film, buy it.

great customer service 4 Star Review
2009-04-15 - I had ordered a movie for my daughter and we recieved the movie case only no movie. I called customer service let them know my issue and I recieved a new movie in 2 days at no charge. I have ordered from here before and this was my only problem. My daughter loves this movie and I thank amazon for the quick replacement.

Coming-of-age story for girls 5 Star Review
2008-09-27 - I remember bawling myself silly over this movie as a child. When I was given it as a gift and watched it, guess what? More bawling. And yet I was still truly touched by the magic and heart of this moving little story as well as its quirkiness and observations of human lives. This is the tale of a young girl who of all things has grown up in the home of a funeral director... which means lots of dead bodies in the basement. Thus is the setting of a quirky and moving little story with plenty of wonderful acting and great humor. It must be watched with tissues, if you are anything like me, but it is worth it.

    Brilliant!! 5 Star Review
2008-07-29 - This is probably my favourite movie of all time. It came out when I was a kid, and I saw it then as a funny, slightly sad movie about a girl and her best friend. Now I own it again as an adult and can view it in a whole new light, as an insightful, deep movie with a lot more complexity than I ever realised as a child! While we outgrow most of our favourite childhood movies as we get older, I feel like this movie 'grew up with me' in a way. A must-see!!
