All for You Reviews:
This album is not as bad as people think!
2009-07-28 - I'm really not sure about the reviews that I've read from below, but when this album came out. It was really successful! I remember hearing on tv that the album went sold around 7 million copies on tv. I remember that Janet Jackson was practically America's pop sweet heart. She all over the television, and MTV even promoted it giving Janet her own Icon special. It was either her or Madonna wearing the pop crown. The cd was also very very well promoted in music stores. Which is sadly something we'll never see again in America. Years and years later after not hearing anything until a year from Janet's latest release I decided to get this album. It was actually decent. China Love was a really cool song. I really like the techno dance feel to it. All for You was really corny when it premered on TRL. Even though, I was in junior high! I still thought it was catchy. Son of a gun was also ok. I thought the video was really cool, but the song never really picked up and alot people felt it was a flop. I really liked someone to call my lover. I remember that song coming out in the 8th grade. That was more of a hit on MTV then the radio. Doesn't really Matter is my favorite track from the album even thought that came out almost two years earlier from the nutty professor. But it had a really cool video, and the song was really really popular. It still looks cool even today. I didn't realize that it went No.1. Overall, I remember most people thought this album was pure pop fluff and crap. And i even wondered(and still) why they put a parental warning sign on the cd. Compared to her last 2 to 3 releases and her future, this is her most kid friendly cd. The sad thing is that Janet's next two cds would sound exactly like this. This format only worked for one cd not three. Overall, this album is alot better then what people give it credit for. It was alot bigger then Britney or any other pop females album at the time.
Online album version missing definitive song
2008-01-04 - What is the point buying the album online when the definitive song on the album "Would You Mind" (normally track 9) is missing!
Good Stuff
2007-04-26 - These are truly the sign of the times when R&B albums now have to have a warning of explicit content. Me personally, I like the clean versions of most albums, including this one. It left a good bit to be desired, but Janet Jackson's essence still strikes with emphasis.
Lots of THICK SUGARY ICING but not much CAKE ! ! ! ! !
2003-06-19 - Janet ~ It's starting to become a pathetic joke !
OVER PRODUCTION, STUPID INTERLUDES combined with WEAK VOCALS are the signature of a JANET release.
Ten years ago, RHYTHM NATION appeared in record stores as a fresh innovative release.
However in 1993 La Janet inserts the same gimmicky formula with interludes on "JANET" and yet again in 1998 the same tired trick appears on "VELVET ROPE".
Janet is no longer innovative, she is a TIRED CLICHE (a trait that runs in the JACKO FAMILY).
Surely JANET and her production team cannot really believe the public is going to once again consume her outdated CDs.
EMI made a huge miscalculation in offering JANET a massive amount of cash to sign with their label. EMI also misjudged the drawing power of the once diva supreme MARIAH.
With this release, it appears that "La JANET" is officially artistically dried up.
She is becoming as much a joke as her brother Michael and the Joan Collins clothing that he wears in public.
The VELVET ROPE is a better product
Janet better start thinking of a new way to produce a sound that will mask the reality of her inability to sing.
I don't have the Extras!!
2002-08-21 - I don't have the extra tracks, I just have the original cd, without the explicit lyrics. I really like the cd, she has a good voice and she does well at her career. If you like artists like J. Lo., you'll love this cd!
