Dream Street Reviews:
Why are people bashing this album? 4 Star Review
2009-08-05 - I actually was surprised at how much this album sounded like Control! Im really surprised that people are labeling this pre-control or before she get good. I think Janet's first two cd's is that the sound just as good as control. Im not surprised that her first two releases tanked. Because Rebbie, Jermaine, and Michael all had good radio hits by the time this was released. SO i could see the american public rolling their eyes when seeing another jackson releasing another album. Overall, I think Janet would have seen success without Jimmy Jam or Terry Lewis, because this album sounds really good. Plus this album has sold close to a million copies over the years, so it's not that bad. I thought most of the tracks were pretty strong, and they sound just like something that could have came off of control and rhythmn nation. I def. think this album is worth buying,it's a pretty good cd. It really surprised me how good it was, and there were some r&b hits off of this album.

I loved these songs! 4 Star Review
2008-12-08 - Well we had this on record ( also had her first as a record), back when I was little. I loved these songs. I forgot all about these until a few months ago and grabbed the digital downloads. I still remember these songs, even though I haven't pulled out this record in at least 17 years!

Anyway these songs have a great 80s/prince sort of sound. And the hold up well over the years. It'll remind you of listening to the Jets! Since I was a first grader when this came out, I don't recall the music landscape at the time, but this was one of my favorites. For those of you who miss the Janet of old, grab the digital tracks. You'll enjoy the carefree 80s grooves!

Like making love to a beautiful woman... 5 Star Review
2008-06-17 - ...and there I was thinking Control/Rhythm Nation were Janet's best albums.... I can't get enough of 'Dream Street' though - definetly up there with both those two but has a smoother, cooler, funktastic rhythm to it all.

All the songs on here - just pure genius...

'Fast Girls', bloody marvellous, probably my favourite of the whole lot... the only thing is you can't sit down to these tunes... you have to get up and boogie :D

A Better Than Average Album! 3 Star Review
2008-02-29 - Janet Jackson's Dream Street album was released back in 1984. To this date, it is her lowest selling album, with 200,000 sold in he U.S. and 400,000 copies sold worldwide. The album peaked at roughly #147 on the Billboard 200. Even though this album was released during Michael Jackson's Thriller fame, it got very little attention. This would be her last album, before she would break through to the main stream and become one of the worlds top leading performers. The first single released from the album was "Don't Stand Another Chance", it peaked at #101 on Hot 100 Bubbling Under Charts and #9 on the R&B Singles Charts. The second single released was "Fast Girls", not even charting on the Hot 100 and peaking at #40 on the R&B Singles Chart. The final single released in the U.S. was the title cut "Dream Street", which did not chart at all and was also Janet's first video to be shot. The ballad "Two To The Power Of Love", was released as a single in U.K., and peaked at #83. There would be no other singles from the album. The album does have some standout cuts, such as Don't Stand Another Chance,Fast Girls,Pretty Boy,and Two To The Power Of Love. This is an album you could get into, but of course it does not compare to her masterpiece albums Control,Rhythm Nation 1814,janet,The Velvet Rope, and All For You. I would still recommend this to any Janet fan!

much better than her debut 5 Star Review
2008-02-19 - Everyone says that this album is the worst in her career, but believe you and me it's really Damita Jo. More fun than her debut. It may sound too innocent in this album, but what's better??? Listening to Damita Jo which talks about the same thing in every song or this album. This album is fun and catchy to listen to! It has that great 80s sound!

BEST ONES!

1) Don't Stand Another Chance- the track that sounds out the most. it makes you want to dance.

2) Pretty Boy- i really like this song. i just love 80s music.

3) Fast Girls- another song you can dance to

4) If It Takes All Night

5) Hold Back the Tears- it sounds like it would be on the Fame soundtrack.
