Hulk [Blu-ray] Reviews:
The Hulk I Like Better
2009-12-18 - In comparison to the 08 Edward Norton Hulk, I think this Hulk film was way more enjoyable. I will say that Norton's Hulk has a better audience range, while this film appeals to those select few who enjoy psychological examination in the superhero genre. That is precisely why I like this installment more: the stronger emotional depth.
Hulk definately nails psychology of Bruce Banner. It manages to use its dramatic scenes way more effectively than its action scenes. We get to see how a Bruce Banner would actually feel in this overbearing situation. While our newer Hulk may be more exciting, I believe the 03 version had much more realism to offer. The funny thing is that both films have extremely talented casts, the difference is the director. Ang Lee knows how to make an artwork out of film, while Louis Leterrier abandons human emotion. The reason why people like the newer film more, is because it is a faster paced action film, while 03 Hulk is hard to label an action film. I call it a science-fiction drama. While it has dynamic and lengthy fight scenes, audiences didn't want to sit through long scenes of talking to see them. Another thing that bothered the world was the editing of the film. While it may be painful the first time to look at 3 split screens every 4 minutes, it becomes much more rewarding after a few viewings. Seeing different angles provides a analytical realism.
As far as our Blu-ray release, I am somewhat satisfied. While I got a good sized package of special features, some of them were reused, which in my opinion is embarassing. Don't expect much, because there's not a lot sweet extras. The problem is that they didn't plan for a big blu-ray when it was release, it being filmed in 02/03.
So anyway, bottom line: Hulk has more depth than its follower. While this one may not be as full of energy, it definately puts the Hulk in a realistic perspective. Expect great performances and a tragic superhero. While it may not be the best action superhero movie, its one of the best drama superhero movies.
Great flick
2009-12-05 - Though this isn't the Incredible Hulk, The Hulk is still a great movie. Jennifer Connelly is beautiful! I love both Hulk movies. Sounds great on Blu-Ray. Seller was great, fast shipping and great packaging.
Terrific Blu-Ray of a flawed but good comic book movie.
2009-09-23 -
Dr. Bruce Banner (Eric Bana) has been conducting experiments with gamma radioation until one night he tries to save a friend's life in the lab and gets blasted with a dose of radioation. Banner survivors but whenever he becomes angry or outraged becomes a powerful and superstrong green skinned brute named The Hulk who's real gentle inside but doesn't like to be messed with. General Ross (Sam Elliot) and Glen Talbot (Josh Lucas) suspects something is going wrong, Bruce's love interest Betty (Jennifer Connely) must try to help with Banner's problems and that's the same for Banner's long lost father David (Nick Nolte) who enhances himself as well to become an absorbing monster.
Quite different Sci-fi thriller based on Marvel's comic hero created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby is directed by Ang Lee. This one maybe a bit slow for some folks and didn't too well with audiences and some critics even critized for not having much Hulk action, Lee wanted to do an artsy take on the beloved Marvel character for i thought this was a very interesting movie. The casting was quite good even to Connelly who is just as sexy as ever, the special effects by ILM is flawed on the Hulk but in the second movie he looked better. Ang Lee did tried to get a major audience but at least he tried, the new Hulk movie was a vast improvement but this is still worth a watch.
This Blu-Ray offers a kickass high defination transfer and terrific sound with good extras like audio commentary, deleted scenes, and featurettes plus picture-in-picture click access for interviews and behind the scenes footage as you watch the movie.
A-List Sensibility
2009-05-30 - By far this surpasses most other entries into the genre. To be quite quick to the point, this film was approached with an A-list sensibility that probed the mind of it's central figure and exposed the "Hulk" as an aspect of Bruce Banner's psyche, invariably tied to an emotional trauma suffered at an early age.
Through every facet of its production this story and character was agreeably taken in a thoughtful direction that gave opportunity to create a far more dynamic character, with quiet and loud events, granting substance and even some degree of metaphor to the narrative.
From the films assembly of accomplished actors to the vision of Ang Lee's perturbed hero in question, "Hulk" goes beyond the expectations of most moviegoers and presents itself as a dramatic character study into one of Marvel Comics most beloved and celebrated icons.
hulk me
2009-05-12 - i don't know why so many people dissed this movie, but i really like it, from the all the actors to the director, i think they did a great job....and the blu-ray version is amazing
