Jenny From the Block Reviews:
My girl Jenny Lopez. 5 Star Review
2006-09-10 - First of all, Jenny has never claimed to be Mariah Carey; Jenny is a simply a very good all-around entertainer. She also happens to be a nice Puerto Rican girl who got out of the projects. So why does everyone like to hate on her? Yes, it would be nice if she gave back more to the community, but does not doing so make her the spawn of Satan? Come on; give me a break! The bottom line is that this right here - while definitely not grammy material - is nevertheless an entertaining song. For those of you who insist on hating on her; just get over it already.

Go Back To The Bronx 1 Star Review
2003-05-27 - For Jennifer Lopez, she really needs to start finding a way to get herself out on the road. For her latest single, Jenny From The Block, she claims she is still the same girl she was, but she was just too sarcastic in fashion with that in mind. Still, she really has to get herself away from being the Milli Vanilli of Latin Pop, and prove that she can really sing. To be honest with you, I think her beau sings better than she can.

Luv it mad!!! 5 Star Review
2003-01-19 - I simply love this song and her new album "This is me...then", no matter what critics say. Jennifer's voice sounds really great on this record. Even my dad likes dis one! She's da bomb!! :) Buy her new CD! It's worth it!

Jenny from the block? Please! 1 Star Review
2003-01-03 - Jennifer, or JLO, is just full of herself (...). How can she still be that girl who was in living color when she is ranked as the most demanding artist out there. She calls herself down-to-earth when she thinks she is a diva. Not only are the lyrics unworthy, but the collaborations are too. I am tired of her trying to be black and trying to be Mariah by having all these rappers in her songs. The only difference is that Mariah has the voice. She is not overshadowed by the rappers. On the other hand, JLO is unherd of in her own songs.
So dont waste your money to buy this single, JLO is trying to sell an image she doesn't have.

Jenny's pretensions 2 Star Review
2002-12-22 - This song rocks but why did i give it one star. For the very premise that J lo is just as pretentious as she ever is and she lacks confidence big time. Why is it that she has to reaffirm time and agian that she's real, she's alright and now she knows where she came from, that she's till the same Jenny from the Bronx. Nothing's more tired in the lyrics that the fact that she's from the Bronx. The rag to riches story is trite. Is she so under-confident she needs to reassure everyopne that she's pretty much the same as she always was? Cut the pretensions I would say! She's gonna be married three times in less than 3 years and she's as showy as she ever was. That's nothing to be proud of.

As for her voice, it's not something impressive but she's not even trying to want to sound impressive. Basically j lo's songs are in a way her vocals dun need much stretching and when it does need to be strecthed on scaling ballads, she fails horribly. On Jenny, it's fine simply bcos there's nothing much for her to scale.

Another sign that J lo is not sure of herself is that she can never hold a tune on herself, not enough to make a hit. Most of her last few hit releases feature a sad rapper intercepting her. Throw in some remixed grooves and beats and she's got a hit. Even her new song All I Have sees L L Cool J collaborating with her that's sad. At the end of the day, you'll never see a song from j lo not featuring any rapper and ultimately, no matter how good a tune is, j lo never carries it off fully!

Lo and Behold, jenny is low.
