BareNaked Reviews:
Amazed!
2008-02-28 - My daughter and I started watching "Ghost Whisperer" a few months back. We got so into the show that I had to buy the DVD's. After watching the show I found out that Jennifer had CD's as well. We had to try them. This was the first. It is amazing. We both LOVE the first two tracks: Barenaked and Can I Go Now. We listen to them every where we go in the car.
I guess what I liked most was that she actually sings....and with emotion. It is hard to find "real" music that really touches you and your life. Just coming out of a divorce, I really connected with "Can I Go Now" and there are days that just fit with "Barenaked". I love this CD and recommend it to anyone who wants to listen to "real" music....
Talented but.......
2007-10-10 -
She does have have a great voice but it's being put to such bad use. Nearly every song is just a knock-off on someone else's sound or some style - "Hey Everybody" and "Rock the Roll" are just two examples of trying to sound cool or hip something.
She needs to let her unique style out or find her "voice" in the literay sense. I have not heard all of her material but "I Know You Will" comes closest on this album I think.
I know she wants to be a song writer but she would do well to work with someone else here - read the lyrics for "Avenue of the Stars"? Ugh.
Acts and Sings!
2007-06-14 - I didn't know that Jennifer Love Hewitt sang until I was searching on here for one of her movies. After I saw it I looked up her song "Bare Naked" and loved it!! The whole CD is really amazing!! She's one of the few who can act AND sing!
Most under-rated artist of the 21st century
2006-10-18 - In a world where talentless female artists rule because of their status (Paris Hilton), cuteness (Hilary Duff) or nudity (Britney Spears, Madonna, Christina Aguilera) Jennifer Love Hewitt offers a refreshing change to the norm. This album truely is a master-piece of which Jennifer should be proud of. It's full of rock-infused pop tracks (BareNaked, Can I Go Now?) and lovely ballads (Stand In Your Way, You). Not only is this full of brilliant pop/rock songs it's produced with little production, there is no synths or computer alterations used on Jennifer's voice which is truely refeshing. But it's obvious that perhaps if Jennifer had had less talent and showed more [...] she's be doing a world tour by now.
simply wonderful
2006-04-18 - i like that this album wasn't extremely popular. it makes me like it more. i like having hidden gems that when i share with people, they dont believe that j.l.hewitt could make such a great album and have a great voice.
everyone says tracks 3 & 8 are standouts, and i will definately have to agree. sometimes the writing is amateur on this album, but these two songs stand up on their own. "you" is one of my favorite songs of all time now.
