  • Editorial Review:
Little Richard is one of the greats of early rock & roll. His superb voice and outrageous stage performances captured the world's imagination and artists from The Beatles to Prince have acknowledged his influence. In this concert film from the Toronto Peace Festival in 1969, the ultimate wildman of rock & roll takes you through his repertoire. Songs include: Blueberry Hill, Lucille, Good Golly, Miss Molly, Rip It Up, Tutti Frutti, Keep a Knocking, Hound Dog, Jenny, Jenny, and Long Tall Sally. A film by D.A. Pennebaker, one of the foremost proponents of direct cinema, a style of filmmaking that favored the immediate recording of reality in as unobtrusive a manner as possible. Pennebaker is best known for Don't Look Back (1967), documenting Bob Dylan's first tour of England, and for completing and editing 1 A.M. (1971), a film begun by Jean-Luc Godard.

    Keep It Rockin' Reviews:
Little richard singing in his 30's. 5 Star Review
2000-06-17 - Little richard in his mid 30's. He is no longer in his prime but this is a rockin' show. He showed up John Lennon and all the other singers that sang at this concert that are not on the video. Little Richard is a tough act to follow.

Little Richard Rocks 'Em In Canada 4 Star Review
2000-05-21 - In his little-discussed (3rd) Comeback ('68 to '71), Mr. Penniman never sounded better: a deeper voice, a harder piano, and a riproaring Rock 'n Soul band. It is tragic that this jubilant period in his chaotic career is not fully represented on record [there are 6 or 7 amazing Reprise tracks and a few exciting cuts for Brunswick]. But thanks to this home video we at least get a strong taste of the live in '69 Little Richard on FILM, partying with all his girlfriends from the '50s: Lucille, Molly, Jenny, and Sally. Some new fans might be surprised to hear "Blueberry Hill" and "Hound Dog" - maybe they haven't learned that Richard cut these classics back in '64. What prevents me from issuing a FIVE star rating is that the Quasar plays piano on only two songs and that the opening number was actually performed next to last - the real show tells the 'rill' story! Shut up!

a must have 5 Star Review
2000-02-22 - this is Incredible. The King OF Rock-N-Roll in all of his glory.he rocks the stage and Commands it.his Piano playing&vocals have fire to them.the band is tight all the way through.a must have from THE KING.

Really old footage of classic Little Richard 3 Star Review
1999-09-07 - Poor lighting and quality of orginal footage. Intresting to see the artist in his 20s
