Editorial Review: Various Dark Angel: The Complete First Season Reviews: love this season 2009-11-20 - I loved this show and its main star but the second season really bites. Wish they could of continued the story lines into the second and perhaps it would of been successful.
Jessica at her finest 2009-11-19 - I never knew who Jessica Alba was and reallly noone did until this show start off on Fox, i saw the previews on the network and set my vcr i had to see this girl i thought she was incredibly gorgoues, after i watched it i got hooked the show is one of very few shows with a female leading all the action. Fun show packed with action, comedy, drama, suspence, all that good stuff.
Great to revisit each episode at leisure 2009-08-12 - I was a big fan of this show when it was on network TV. Jessica Alba has such an exotic look. She seemed to smolder. I really enjoyed the interplay between her character, Max, and Michael Weatherly's Logan Cale. I haven't even gotten to the extras yet. There seem to be an interesting collection of them. I'll be getting plenty of viewing entertainment from this set!
Great show 2009-07-13 - What a great show! I am a fan of Buffy the Vampire slayer, and sci-fi in general, and someone said I should check out Dark Angel. I thought it had all the right elements of a great series: action, a little romance, good writing. For those of you who don't know about it, it's set in the post-apocalyptic future, and about a trans-genic group of kids with super speed and strength who escape from the lab/prison they have been brought up in. The main character, Max, is sort of a robin hood, stealing from the rich and corrupt and helping out others. Basically it follows her as she finds out more about the place she escaped from and tries to find the others who escaped with her. She befriends an anti-government do gooder named Logan and they team up to take on the establishment that "created" her.
If you are a fan of sci-fi, you should enjoy this one.
Max Guevara - Every Man's "Revved-Up" Girl... 2009-07-03 - Forever Eyes... Dark. (Whoever knows this would understand both the sentimentality and humor as the intro to this review).
Poetic and still refreshingly engrossing. After almost finishing Season One, I could say that the put down of Dark Angel would be FOX Network's undoing. This is my pre-Season Two assessment so for any viewer who is post-Season Two, please be aware.
Max Guevara is a "revved-up" girl with a secret past that no one must know about. After the Pulse hit, the entire United States of America has suddenly regressed from a first-world into a third-world country overnight. Terrorism has finally prevailed since technology was America's weakest link financially. With Max Guevara deliberately escaping from Manticore, she kept herself under radar after the Pulse hit. She is pursued by the shady Lydecker, commanding officer of Delta Team, and various other villains who wish to have all X-5s (including Max) repossessed, reprogrammed, and used for merciless purposes or otherwise killed.
The polished story structure of Lydecker's search for his "kids" and the unraveling mystery of Manticore does Season One justice; I find the boiling love between Max and Logan to be a more sentimental, if somewhat softer part of the TV show. Yet, I can't agree with anyone who can hate Logan; he's the luckiest bachelor for Max to have in her life.
If you are interested in cyberpunk, post-apocalyptic TV shows with heroines who can kick butt, Dark Angel Season One could satisfy even your cravings... and still want you searching for the second one.
Side note: if you know about the smart car that we have seen some people start to drive in our streets 2009, look for the smart car in one of the episodes in Season One. You'll see a striking resemblance of our car today and the car in the show. Just a heads up... Could it be a clue?
