In This Skin [Collector's Edition] Reviews:
Probably the one of her BEST!!!!! 4 Star Review
2008-05-05 - Im not gonna go into full detail about this album. But it is one of the best out of the 4 she has released so far. Thank goodness for the re-release because the 1st person i spoke to about this album was disappointed. So i decided to hold off but when i saw that she was doing a remake to "Take My Breath Away" and "Angel", that was all i needed. Jessica Simpson is talented and has an amazing voice to the likes of Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera. However she just doesn't know what to do with it. She works with the wrong people & she really needs a mainstream producer to PUT her VOICE on the MAP & Utilize it to the best of her ability. As stated this was one of her better releases and my favorite song was "I Have Loved You" she never released or made a video for =(

Ballad-heavy, and much more Enticing than I first believed... 4 Star Review
2007-11-04 - Let me start out, By saying that this chick is a blond bombshell, who is so hot, She could charm Her way into my Life even though I'm into Guys!!

She's lovely, maintains a "Sweet, girl next door" aura, and "Wishes She could save the world like She was Super Girl." Hehe.

Just check out the song, "With You", a wonderful love song, that celebrates, being comfortable with one's self - one's own being, and loving every drop - every morsel that your omnipresent Lover decides to devote to you.

I love most of these songs, Hence the 3.7/5 stars rating, I'm awarding this release. It's not stellar, but the sweet, yet quite powerful vocals is the forward and background of the Music and production and that's fairly important.

Standout tracks, mostly pop ballads are:

Everyday See You
With You
Take My Breath Away
With You (Acoustic version)
Underneath

The only thing this chick should consider, is trying to become a singer-songwriter. Even if her lyrics are trite, and elementary that's OK because numerous amounts of pop singers these days write trite, empty, and meaningless "songs" these Days...!

You don't know how much respect I'd gain for Her If she decided to take matters into the palm of Her own hands and sat down to write some love songs on Her very own or even if She decided to collaborate with someone who would take initiative steers the ship and is the head Songwriter.

I would melt inside if she took over and wrote something. I think it'd be wicked cool if Her and Ashlee penned a couple of catchy pop songs for All to devour! They could even get together to materialize a "love-that-you're-gone" song, that happily dismisses Nick Lachey her ex-Husband.

*NOTABLE UPDATE* Just in: Jessica Simpson successfully co-wrote some of these tracks. I'm in Awe to be perfectly honest. But I love it. It just shows how multi-talented She is. And I'm sure that She laughs all the way to the bank! Go, Jess!! Stay sweet and don't let this crazy world change You!!!!!

Excellent 5 Star Review
2006-11-11 - I love this album besides the singles: sweetest sin, with you, take my breath away and angels.I definetly think "I have loved you" should've been another single maybe instead of sweetest sin or angels.Anyway this is a great album it's worth more buying than baby one more time.

YUCK, YUCK, YUCK 1 Star Review
2006-10-03 - How can ANYONE say this chick has talent?!!! My God, she is sooooooooo bad. And yes, I actually listened to it. The only reason it sounds semi ok is because she's got millions backing her and that much technology could even make me sound good! She doesn't write any of her songs and she can't hold a tune. Gives Celine a run for her money? Please!!!! The only singer she sounds better than is Paris Hilton! But whatever. If you like it, that's all that matters. If you like pretty young pop stars, Christina Aguilera is MUCH better. She can actually SING!!!

It's consistent, but not real fun 4 Star Review
2006-07-08 - Like many of today's biggest pop stars, Jessica Simpson would not have become so famous had it not been for a trademark behavior (in her case, absolute stupidity) that pushed her into infamy. Britney Spears, the original female pop superstar, delivered a look that could kill and dirty-fun pop music classics, but Simpson, though talented, did not have anything nearly as sinful or indulging as "...Baby One More Time," "Oops!...I Did It Again," "I'm a Slave 4 U" or the Grammy-winning "Toxic." But she did get married to another out-of-the-big-leagues boy bander named Nick Lachey and decided to do a reality TV show about their first year of marital bliss; though it proved to be a great marketing move shooting both Simpson and then-husband Lachey into pop superstardom (something both of them had publicly longed for), In This Skin did not do well on the charts or commercially until Newlyweds made Jessica infamous (again, for making stupid remarks). There is no doubt that if it had not been for the aforementioned TV show, Jessica would still be happily married but in search of a new record deal. In This Skin is, at best, consistent, but hardly anything to write home about; the standout track here is "With You," a song that doesn't seem to be nearly as delightful now that the divorce from Nick Lachey became final (since it was co-written by Simpson for him). The pop star, in the past known for her soothing vocals, has never sounded more horrific than she does here, trading in her swoops and swoons for Britney Spears-like growling and breathiness; this aspect only further hurts the already iffy album, and the lack of any radio-charting songs (sans for "With You") makes it a forgettable album. Consistent? Yes. Great? No.
