Editorial Review: No Description Available. Genre: Feature Film-Drama Rating: NR Release Date: 6-FEB-2007 Media Type: DVD Doing Time on Maple Drive Reviews: Progay 2009-05-16 - I own this DVD (I got it from Amazon) I have not watched it (so I don't know if I will even like it or not, nevertheless; that is not my point...I am sorry a reviewer needed to say this ((I am so sick of progay movies being described as 'family dramas')
I would like to comment on the reviewer that was so upset they did not know it was a gay story and that it was listed for families.
Yes, I am a gay man and I am saddened there are still so many "homophobic" people that can't open there harts to gay families.
Remaining hopeful,

This one struck VERY close to home 2009-05-08 - I was in my early 20's when I first saw this film, and I'm not kidding here: after I saw it, I spent weeks wondering how someone was able to infiltrate my own family and record what had happened in the few years prior. I mean more than one of the scenes in this movie actually occurred in my family, nearly verbatim. It was a very spooky experience, and Doing Time is the one and only made-for-TV film that ever sent literal shivers down my spine. That's how real it felt.
I'm glad this was out on DVD 2008-03-03 - This is one of my favorite movies on the subject of Co-dependency. It's interesting to see Jim Carry (Tim) before he became famous. I strongly recommend this DVD especially for people dealing with coming out in a family that is very co-dependent. I had copied it off the FOX station with my VHS but now that VHS is no longer the prefered media I was hoping to find it on DVD so I can keep it forever.
Excellent relationships drama 2007-10-22 - Excellent drama about family relationships, expectations and, ultimately, revelations. Acting is above average for all players and it is interesting to see Jim Carey in an early, serious role. An excellent, and much under-promoted film.
Changed My Life. 2007-04-11 - In 1992 when this movie was released, I was only 15 years old, and was living very much a secret life in The Country Club world of Broken Arrow, Okla. When the TV spots for this add hit FOX, I knew I had to see it. As I watched in my room, I remembered feeling the same way William McNamara's character felt. I was scared, yet somehow empowered. I reccomend this film to anyone who has ever lived a secret. Doing Time on Maple Drive will forever be one of my FAVORITE films. BUY IT!
