Editorial Review:
Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) is back! But this time he's in New York City with enough cash and credit cards to turn the Big Apple into his own playground! But Kevin won't be alone for long. The notorious Wet Bandits, Harry and Marv (Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern), still smarting from their last encounter with Kevin, are bound for New York too, plotting a huge holiday heist. Kevin's ready to welcome them with a battery of booby traps the bumbling bandits will never forget!
Description of Home Alone 2 - Lost in New York:
This somewhat unpleasant 1992 sequel to the blockbuster Home Alone revisits the first film's gimmick by stranding Macaulay Culkin's character in New York City while his family ends up somewhere else. Again, the little guy meets up with colorful people on the margins of society (including a pigeon woman played by Brenda Fricker) and again he gets into a prop-heavy battle with Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern. The latter sequence is even worse than the first film in terms of violence inflicted on the two villains (director Chris Columbus, who also made the first film, can't seem to emphasize the slapstick over the graphic effects of the fight). The best running joke finds a concierge (Tim Curry) at the swank hotel where Culkin is staying trying and failing to prove that the boy is on his own. --Tom Keogh
Home Alone 2 - Lost in New York Reviews:
timeless classic
2009-12-20 - Great movie that never tires. If you love Home Alone 1 you will love the continuation of the story with Home Alone 2.
Review of product
2009-12-16 - Great item fast shipping. Though i was disappointed to find that this is not actually in widescreen format. Its in letterbox format so the it doesnt take up the whole screen. Too bad- though i still love this movie
Great movie, maybe even better than the first!
2009-12-13 - This is a great movie for anyone of any age! I would just like to say that if you read the Amazon review by Tom Keogh, do not be turned off to the movie. Mr. Keogh does not seem to appreciate the film for what it is. So give it a shot it is worth it!
What to do in The City that Never Sleeps?
2009-12-11 - Home Alone 2: Lost in New York is mostly an exact duplicate of the original film. Kevin (Culkin) gets into trouble in the beginning, he ignores his family, his family is separated from him, he enjoys his independence, and his two most ruthless rivals come and ruin all the fun. But this time, Kevin makes it to the airport and gets on the wrong plane. So now he's in New York City for the holidays, while his family is all the way down in Florida. I'd say that Lost in New York is as equally entertaining as the first. It has the same amount of charm, and the booby traps are a bit more inventive. Tim Curry becomes a bit of a sensation in a small antagonistic role, while Rob Schneider is pretty annoying whenever he appears (isn't he always?). But the film as a whole is a bit more beautiful-looking, with a few darker elements added in. I don't think I can decide which film is better, since I think they are equally brilliant. So I will say that this is yet another Christmas classic that anyone can watch during the holiday season. It's a great family film that isn't as memorable as the first movie, but it's just as good.
Grade: A-
It's a classic!
