Confessions of a Shopaholic (Two-Disc Special Edition + Digital Copy) [Blu-ray] Reviews:
    Disappointing 2 Star Review
2009-12-28 - Thankfully I read the books before watching the movie. The books are GREAT -all 5 of them- but the movie is so disappointing, it does no justice at all to the books. I will probably throw my dvd copy to the bin, I feel ashamed to even offer it to someone, whereas I highly recommend all 5 books and any other book by this author, they are great!

Adorable and hilarious 5 Star Review
2009-12-27 - I didn't expect to like this movie as much as I did; in fact, I refrained from even renting it for months after it came out. Then after seeing a trailer, I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did! Isla Fisher is completely adorable in this movie. The premise of the movie--a girl who cannot curtail her shopaholic ways--makes it somewhat poignant as well as comedic. Being a shopaholic is self-destructive for the character. Fisher carries the role off well, though, inspiring compassion for her character and highlighting the addictive nature of shopping for susceptible people. Although Hugh Dancy is not necessarily the actor I would have chosen for his role--I can see Ryan Reynolds or Nathan Fillion in the role more easily--he served as a good foil for Fisher's character.

The result is a delightful movie in which Fisher gets herself not only more deeply in debt but also more deeply trapped by her desperate attempts to cover up her shopaholic habit and the real identity of the collections agent who is becoming increasingly intrusive. She manages to extricate herself from some nearly-catastrophic faux pas and still land on her feet, but as the movie draws closer to the end, she suddenly finds herself in a position where her hidden problems compromise her relationship with Dancy's character and she must make a decision about how to respond. Fisher's performance is like a combination of Lucille Ball's comedic genius with Reese Witherspoon's winsome personality and Doris Day's girl-next-door look. She is sweet but sassy, prone to getting herself into predicaments, and able to come up with creative ways to get out of said predicaments. Above all, she is thoroughly entertaining.

I enjoyed this movie so much that I watched it multiple times. I also liked Isla Fisher in this so much that I'll be watching to see what she is starring in next and will definitely see it too. I predict that her rising star will soon bring her big-ticket success.

not as described 3 Star Review
2009-12-26 - The case was in poor condition and the dvd was dirty...I was disappointed as well as my daughter.

    Fantastic! 5 Star Review
2009-12-21 - I got this for my sister in-law as a Christmas present, its not Christmas yet so I don't know if it works properly but it is a new dvd so I think it'll be fine. Anyway, shipped fast and got here fast so I'm happy!

i love romantic comedies...but i really hated this film 1 Star Review
2009-12-19 - I also love Hugh Dancy, but his acting wasn't good enough to save this horrible, pointless movie. The plot is ridiculous because we're supposed to care about a frivolous idiot, and a perfectly reasonable man is falling in love with her. Isla Fisher's acting is painful, so are her hemline choices -- plot and script too -- the debt collector thing is absurd. Can't believe they got Kristin Scott Thomas for this...Wish I could have that hour and a half back. It's that bad.
