Description of Bolt (Two-Disc Deluxe Edition + Digital Copy):
Bolt is a funny animated film about a dog who thinks he has superpowers. It is also a movie about friendship, perseverance, and the power of believing in oneself. Everyone knows that superheroes on television are not real, but super-dog Bolt (John Travolta) is a canine star who has been carefully raised to believe that he really possesses superpowers. Bolt is completely devoted to his human co-star Penny (Miley Cyrus), so when Penny is captured by the evil Dr. Calico (Malcolm McDowell) in their latest television episode and then Bolt accidentally gets loose in the real world, Bolt sets off on a journey to save her. Bolt is confounded when his super powers are suddenly ineffective, but inspiration strikes and Bolt quickly discovers the mysterious, power-stealing effects of Styrofoam packing peanuts. An encounter with alley cat Mittens (Susie Essman) gives Bolt some eye-opening lessons about being a real dog in the real world, while star-struck, ball-enclosed hamster Rhino (Mark Walton) revels in the opportunity to serve as Bolt's sidekick in the quest to rescue Penny. The trio traverses the United States from waffle house to waffle house on a hysterical quest to find Penny and prove that the relationship between Penny and Bolt is real. In the end, Bolt, Mittens, and Rhino learn that everyone is special in their own way and they discover the true power of believing in oneself and one's friends. Select theaters showed Bolt in Real-D 3-D which features some nice effects, but the film is probably equally enjoyable in the traditional format. A fun film with a nice message and a huge dose of cute, Bolt is good entertainment for the entire family. --Tami Horiuchi

Bolt (Two-Disc Deluxe Edition + Digital Copy) Reviews:
Bolt is FUN!
2009-12-28 - I have to admit I'm a HUGE Disney fan and have been so disappointed with their theatrical releases such as Return to Neverland and "The Tigger Movie" that I stopped going to see them in theaters and instead have been waiting for DVD releases. Now that I've seen Bolt and how much fun it is (coupled with "Meet the Robinsons") I'm seriously debating my stance and may take a risk and see them in theaters again.
Bolt is charming, but RHINO really makes this "Totally Awesome". He's only used sparingly, but he makes me laugh every time he's on screen.
Thoroughly enjoyed this movie
2009-12-28 - Our family (including a 7-year-old daughter) loved this movie. The opening sequence was action packed. She has watched this movie several times and loves Rhino. There are parts of the movie that are a bit confusing for a child, but that didn't ruin the entertainment. Luckily, unlike some of the other children's movies this one was enjoyable for all of us.
I do recommend this movie for children, though it is definitely one we wanted to watch with her the first time due to some of the action in the opening sequence.
Pets for life!
2009-12-27 - Kiddo and I both loved "Bolt," though I do think she was a little young to understand it entirely. It starts sweetly when Penny rescues Bolt as a puppy. Viewers soon discover that Bolt and Penny are stars of an action TV series, but Bolt has no idea that it's all make-believe. When he is separated from Penny, he must traverse the country to be reunited with his person, all the while coming to grips with the reality that he does not have super powers.
Kids will love the movie's fast pace and the rapport among Bolt, a cat named Mittens, and a hamster named Rhino. And parents who are concerned with animal welfare will appreciate the film's message that people need to be faithful to their animal companions for life.
Very good but apparently underrated
2009-12-18 - This is a very good film that for what I know and from the commercials I saw it was a very different film from what I expected. When I saw the commercials I thought this film was not going to be very good, but once I saw the film I found out that the real concept of the film was very good and well executed. Recommend this to anyone, since the quality of this CGI film can be compared to that of Pixar's films.
Super cute movie!
2009-11-29 - This movie is just packed with every thing that makes you feel like a kid again. It's full of adventure, action, friendship, and takes you on a journey of a sweet little dog Bolt, and his new found friends. It shows that what goes in life is not always what it may seem, and touches you in a way that you won't forget! Highly recommend for family, and dog lovers!
