Farscape Season 3, Collection 5 Reviews:
Just keeps getting better
2009-02-25 - Season 3 was where this series really got interesting and delved into some very intense story arcs. I won't spoil anything by telling you how the cliffhanger occurs, but I would recommend you have collection 1 of season 4 handy. You will want to get right on with the story. Farscape equals and surpasses many of the scifi series that have cluttered TV over the ages. It has the production value of a major studio series, great settings and locations, and apparently spares no expense in delivering excellence to the viewer. I've always been a fan of all 5 Star Trek series and Farscape is just as good and sometimes better. The writing is fantastic, the acting is first rate, and the plot twist are intricate and deeply layered.
the best sci-fi scince STAR TREK toe
2008-09-02 - FARSCAPE has great acting, suberb writing, fantastic special effects and very well developed characters. What more could you ask for?? Season three is probably the best of the series, however if you have'nt seen it before start with the premier episode and watch season one and two first.
Get the Starburst edition
2006-05-25 - Farscape is an excellent sci-fi series and season three is full of interesting twists and character development. But enough about how wonderful Farscape is. This review is about this collection. While it's a good for when it came out I have to say don't bother now.
Get the Starburst Edition of the Farscape DVD's. They are less expensive, hold seven episodes instead of four, come with more bonus features, and are remastered. So instead of having to collect a half dozen DVD sets you only need to get three. You still get everything this DVD has to offer and more while at the same time spending a lot less money in the process.
Series High Point
2006-02-23 - For me, this is one of the high points of the series. Grand drama, climactic sacrifice, and an outstanding season ending. You certainly need to know the show to get the maximum enjoyment, but this is a necessity for fans of the show.
Good writing for a change...
2004-01-29 - It's so very rare is television programming to find any series that manages to combine both well-thought out stories and wit as well as develop genuine feeling for its characters. This season put the characters through so much and the end with these final episodes shows that the writers were at the top of their game and not simply kicking back and relying on a firm fan base to excuse sloppy writing or half-baked ideas. The twin episodes of "Into the Lions Den" made for an excellent climax for this season's story arc, and the final episode made for a good if not slightly confusing resolution (i.e., pay attention...the devil is in the details here).
It's interesting that people either love or hate this show, and it's still a crime that the Sci-Fi channel gave up this successful series (or rather, sabotaged it with poor times and almost no attention in its last season) to replace it with abominably bad new or other shows. All good things do come to an end, and this series certainly went before its time...
