Editorial Review:
June Carter was born in the rugged mountains of Maces Springs, Virginia, to Ezra and Maybelle Carter, pioneers of country music. On stage from a very young age, June found her niche in the spotlight with her vivacious personality and down-home sense of humor. Her confidence and spirit were what attracted Johnny Cash to her in the late 1950s. On the road together, they quickly bonded. June was his helpmate and closest companion. They were married for forty years, through addiction and success, tragedy and triumph.
Anchored in Love is an inside look into the life of June Carter Cash, through the eyes of her only child with Johnny Cash-John Carter Cash. With skillful prose, he reveals new information about the legendary woman through his tender memories and heartwarming stories.
Anchored In Love: An Intimate Portrait of June Carter Cash Reviews:
Be prepared
2009-07-19 - June's picture is on the cover which might lead you to believe that the book is just about her. The book is about the whole family. It was written by June and Johnny's son John Carter. You must know before you read it that it involves things about June that many many fans do not want to hear.
Johnny was always open and honest about his life and troubles but not June. Many people are very upset with John Carter. You learn that June was as much an addict as Johnny. She had many troubles in her life. But even after hearing this I hope you will feel as I do that IT DOES NOT MATTER...YOU STILL LOVE HER ANYWAY. Nothing changes.
John Jr tells of his teen years, stays in rehab and getting straight. He tells of the death of his sister Rosey. June spoiled her family and no one ever had to do anything for themselves. He tells you about his marriage and his children. He tells about his parents death. Some parts are sad. But thru it all you know that he was ANCHORED IN LOVE.
It is a good book and I enjoyed it. Don't be to mad at him. It is a what I call a keeper and a re-read.

Disappointed in You, John Carter
2009-04-29 - I was so excited to get this book. I wanted to know the love of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash. Instead, I was so terribly hurt and embarrassed for June and the facts of her life that were better kept secret...but instead sold for money.
Everybody knew Johnny Cash had a drug problem. Nobody needed to know that June did, although she was elderly and trusted that it would be kept in the family forever, I'm sure.
The book began with a useless, uninteresting history lesson that had to be included, otherwise the entire book would have been one sentence, "Mom was a junkie, too."
Disappointing, useless book.
Speaking the truth in love
2009-03-03 - I'm surprised that there weren't more reviews for this amazing grace of a book. John Carter Cash honored his parents by speaking the truth in love and relating precious - and painful - memories. I've admired June Carter Cash for years, but even more so after seeing so many close-up and complex sides to this lovely lady. John inherited his parents' gift for storytelling and used it to bravely share his mother with the world. This book is undoubtedly a tear-jerker (a good thing) and one of the finest I have ever read in my life.
Cash, son book
2009-01-19 - This was a book I could not put down. John Carter Cash was honest, but remained respectful of both parents. He told a story that was real, even at times when the times were dark!
A beautiful tribute to famous a mother
2009-01-06 - This book finally gives insight into the life and love of June Carter Cash, written with raw honesty by her and Johnny Cash's son. It takes you on a detailed ride of her family life, as well as her death at a fairly early age.I enjoyed it very much and recommend it to anyone with an interst in this amazing womans biography.
