Editorial Review:
Johnny Cash, an American icon, is captured in this amazing performance from the 1994 Montreux Jazz Festival. Going through 19 of his classics, including a guest appearance from his wife June on "Jackson", Cash gives a history lesson of sorts. At the time of the show, he had been recording for nearly 40 years, and he performs most of his biggest hits.
In late 2005, the bio-pic "Walk The Line" hits theatres, starring Joaquin Phoenix as Cash and Reese Witherspoon as his wife June Carter Cash. It is currently slated for a November release, and will presumably be one of the high-profile motion pictures of the holiday season.

Johnny Cash - Live at Montreux 1994 Reviews:
Johnny Cash "Live at Montreux" 1994
2008-09-23 - This is an outstanding performance by Johnny Cash and his band and is definitely a 5 star classic concert performance. His band includes his son John Carter Cash on acoustic guitar, an electic guitar player, a bass player and a drummer. Johnny plays his acoustic guitar. The set list consists of 20 songs.
Some highlights include "Folsom Prison Bluses", "Get Rhythm", "Sunday Morning Coming Down", "Ring of Fire", "I walk the line", "Ghost Riders in the Sky" (they really jam on this one), "Tennessee Stud", "Redemption", "Jackson" (with June), "Will the Circle be Unbroken" (with June and John Carter), and "San Quentin".
This is an outstanding 5 star concert performance by Johnny Cash and his band. This concert is a true classic that Johnny has left for us to enjoy.
I highly recommend it.
It's like being at Jonny Cash concert...
2008-05-29 - "Live at Montreux" is arguably Johnny Cash's greatest album. It combines the feel of attending a live concert, hearing his best-known songs & ballads as well as a few surprises, with seeing Johnny and June working their material and working the house together. Note that the recording was not made on the best video cameras of the time, nor was the editing done at top quality, so it has some production flaws - but these won't take away from enjoying the show. I bought the DVD because I first saw the show on PBS and loved it. For people like me, who faithfully tuned into "The Johnny Cash Show" each week, this album is a must. It's also a must for anyone who came away from seeing "Walk The Line" wanting to know what the "Man In Black" was really like. (PS: It also shows why Joaquin Phoenix deserved an Oscar for the performance - which he sang himself - although Philip Seymour Hoffman won Best Actor for "Capote".)
Pure Cash - At Any Age!
2008-02-02 - Johnny Cash was 62 years old when he did this concert, his only concert at the famed Montreux Jazz Festival. His career had just been revived in the past year or two and he had just recorded or released a new album called "American Recordings." Some of those songs are in this concert, but the bulk of it are the early songs that made "the man in black" so famous. Just check the list here of songs - fantastic!
Cash may not have been as spry as when he was young, but he still was electrifying and seemed to play off the great reception he got from this Montreux audience. As the concert goes on, you can see Cash becoming more pleased and animated. He loved it, and they loved him!
This DVD will leave you - like Johnny - smiling.
BEST DVD OF JOHNNY CASH LIVE....Period
2008-01-18 - This show is excellent and shows Johnny at a great time in his career.
Until they find a concert from 1998 or later to release, this is great.
Although........I wish VH1 would release "StoryTeller" on DVD.
Another great DVD by Cash is his 1987 concert at "Austin City Limits".
johnny cash is good
