Johnny Cash Collection + Bonus DVD Pride of Jesse Hallam Reviews:
Quality Stuff!
2005-07-18 - This is a good collection of early Johnny Cash songs and I have found it to be enjoyable for the most part. The bonus DVD is called the Pride of Jesse Hallam and is a very nice extra. Certainly this set is a worthy purchase.
"The Collection"-Biting Ballads From the Man in Black
2000-08-25 - Perhaps no voice in country music is as distinctive and powerful as that of the legendary Johnny Cash. In this latest release,"Johnny Cash-The Collection," fans and listeners are given the opportunity to savor the vintage beauty of some of Cash's most powerful ballads and songs. From his powerful words to his haunting melodies, Johnny Cash has an ability like no other to conjure the image of the story he spins within the mind of his listener. Nor does the "Man in Black" suffer from a lack of originality. Indeed, no two songs are comparible on this powerful album. Cash takes us accross the sweltering praries of Hell in "Ghost Riders in the Sky" and up the bloody slopes of Iwo Jima with "The Ballad of Ira Hayes." The partriotic fervor of "The Ragged Old Flag" is unparralled in the annals of music and the listener may well find themself with a swollen chest or misty eye. Yet, "The Collection" encompases more than Cash's imaginative stories of life, death, sin, and war. This album is distinctive for its inclusion of several of Johnny Cash's most memorable hit recordings, most notably "Ring of Fire" and "I Still Miss Someone." This set of recordings is ideal for the amatuer or the die-hard fan and features everything from chart-topping hits to rare ballads and tributes. "Johnny Cash-The Collection" is trully as eclectic as the "Man in Black" himself and is a must for any fan of classic country music.
