Editorial Review:
Starship Troopers 3: Marauder explodes with mind-blowing man-on-bug combat! Col. Johnny Rico (Casper Van Dien) is back to lead his team on a secret mission to rescue a small crew of troopers stranded on the remote planet of OM-1. Battling bugs, both new and old, the new "Marauder" advanced weapons technology may be their only hope against a treasonous element operating within the Federation itself. As Captain Lola Beck (Jolene Blalock) and the rest of the starship crew fight to survive in the harsh conditions, it begins to dawn on them that something on OM-1 is very, very wrong. This time the bugs have a secret weapon that could destroy humanity. Join the Mobile Infantry in this intergalactic action-packed adventure.
Starship Troopers 3: Marauder [Blu-ray] Reviews:
Horrible distortion of Heinlein
2008-10-10 - Minus 5 stars.
By my calculations, Heinlein, in his grave, is spinning at about 12,000 RPM. This monsterous piece of filth was supposed to be derived from his book - "Starship Troopers", but had the worst of the unfit in leadership positions, rather that the best of the best, as in the book. Kind of like the system we have.
I watched hoping to see a good-hearted old friend, but instead saw a child-molesting politician. The people that wrote the script should be fed to hogs, alive.
Troopers
2008-10-02 - Starship Troopers 3: Marauder
A good sequel with good FX, but story could be better. The religious character is whiny and annoying.
WORTH A WATCH
2008-09-27 - A decent movie, rent it vice buy it. It may not be your cup of tea.
The special effects are not anything worth talking about. Not an issue for me, but many will find the lack of "polish" a bit distracting.
There is some nudity in this movie. Unlike the second movie, this nudity is really not that offensive and is used, in this reviewers opinion, (1) to make teenage boys want to watch it and (2) show how the military is completely asexual - a theme from the Heinlein book and the first movie.
The use of religion in this movie was very humorous. How you will react to it depends on both your beliefs and what you interpret the directors/writers intent to be. For myself, I think they have crafted the story to be equally offensive to both believers and non-believers.
STARSHIP TROOPERS by Robert Heinlein was one of my favorite books as a young man. It does a fairly decent job capturing the acculturation that the military performs on recruits and new officers. It also is an insightful commentary on what it means to be a "real citizen". With the exception of small parts of the first movie, none of the Starship Trooper series makes it to that level of sophistication.
Overall, this movie is better than the second one, but not as good as the first. However, it is really enjoyable. Compared to most straight to DVD movies, this one is excellent.
Don't bother
2008-09-25 - Waited over an hour just to see the marauder suit, and it was poorly done. This movie does not even begin to compare with the book, or the first movie for that matter. Its just not worth even the 4 dollars to watch it.
even poorer follow up
2008-09-23 - Having seen the first of the Starship Troopers movies, I had an idea of what to expect, however being hard up for a scifi movie, and having had real junk to watch for the last few days, my wife and I decided to give it a shot. I wish I hadn't, everything in it was worse than the first one. Seemed to try and use as many parts of different movies as possible, and the entire thing was a poor showing. Better off to watch the weather channel....
