Description of Bon Jovi - Lost Highway: The Concert:
The band members refer to it as their "Nashville album," but make no mistake about it: a fiddle here or a pedal steel guitar there won't change the fact that Lost Highway, performed in its entirety in this 2007 concert, is every inch a Bon Jovi record--not their best, perhaps, but one that is nevertheless extremely popular and embodies all of the veteran band's strengths. The setting here, a Chicago studio with a stage constructed specially for the occasion, is obviously more intimate than the humongous stadiums they fill on tour, but singer Jon Bon Jovi, guitarist Richie Sambora, and their mates (augmented here by four additional musicians) are still one of the ultimate arena bands, pumping out the kind of tunes that inspire the faithful to pump their fists during the guitar solos and sing joyfully along with the big, anthemic choruses that are a staple of the Bon Jovi repertoire. Lost Highway has plenty of those (cf. the title song, "Any Other Day," and "I Love this Town"), mixed in with ballads like "(You Want to) Make a Memory" and "Seat Next to You." These and other songs offer the kind of universal, if somewhat facile, sentiments (life's tough, we all feel alone sometimes, but when the chips are down I'll be there for you) summed up by Bon Jovi's comment about the songwriting process: "Our story becomes your story." Filmed in high definition and sporting excellent sound, the concert also features performances of "It's My Life," "Wanted Dead or Alive," and "Who Says You Can't Go Home." Brief interviews with Bon Jovi, Sambora, drummer Tico Torres, and keyboardist David Bryan are the principal bonus features. --Sam Graham

Bon Jovi - Lost Highway: The Concert Reviews:
Complete Studio Record Performed Live 3 Star Review
2009-06-17 - In 2007 Bon Jovi released Lost Highway. The album was about as close as the band got to a concept album in its 25 year recording history. Its country inspired tracks went straight to number one in many countries in the world. As a result of this the A&E network proposed a concert to celebrate the record. Filmed in a small Chicago studio the band plays the record in track by track order. The band seems to be enjoying the material and the crowd does as well. There are standout performances of Lost Highway, (You Want To) Make a Memory, We Got it Going On, and I Love This Town before the band plays a three song encore of It's My Life, Wanted Dead or Alive, and Who Says You Can't Go Home.

While this is not the concert that many fans had hoped for its a good edition to any collection and shows how an arena band can continue to grow and create after so many years. The most important special feature are brief backstage interview segments with the band.

no behind-the-scenes revelatons but fun for fans 3 Star Review
2009-04-29 - For the 2007 release "Lost Highway" - the band's tenth studio album and the third to go to #1 - Bon Jovi turned to Nashville for inspiration, adding a touch of country to its trademark rock music sound. Fronted by lead singer Jon Bon Jovi - he of the laid-back manner and matinee-idol looks - the band performed a concert in July 2007 at a relatively small and intimate venue in Chicago. The concert consisted almost entirely of songs from "Lost Highway" - played in the original album order - with just a few older numbers thrown in at the end. "Bon Jovi: Lost Highway: The Concert" is the filmed record of that event.

This is a documentary in only the simplest, most stripped-down sense of the term. It is essentially a straight-ahead concert film, minus all the personal interviews and backstage stories we generally get in these up-close-and-personal tributes. As such, it's hard to really analyze "Bon Jovi: Lost Highway: The Concert" as a movie at all, except to state that if you're a fan of the group - and of this album in particular - you will probably be enthralled by the experience. And if you aren't, you probably won't hear or see anything here that is all that likely to pique your interest or reveal anything about the band that you didn`t already know.

Bon Jovi Lost Highway DVD 5 Star Review
2009-02-07 - My wife and I love Bon Jovi. This DVD shows them singing the Lost Highway cd as it was on the original cd. They are an awesome band that delivers cd quality music in concert.

Great Way to Introduce An Album 4 Star Review
2009-01-26 - Bon Jovi's Lost Highway concert DVD was awesome. More artist should do something like this where they play all the songs from their CD in one concert. A lot of times artist come out with CDs and you only ever get to hear maybe 3 or 4 songs at the most live, unless they are new artist, from there latest cd. Jon came up with a great idea to play all the songs from this cd and I applaud him for it.

Personally I wish more artist would do this and make it part of a deluxe version of the CDs. This way hardcore fans can get a chance to enjoy hearing songs that might not get played live, because they might not be "radio friendly".

Even though I'm not a big fan of the Lost Highway CD, I did enjoy this DVD and I found myself enjoying some songs that I didn't really enjoy when I just listened to the CD. Sometimes live versions of songs sound better than the recorded versions.

If you enjoy Bon Jovi's lost Highway CD you'll love the DVD. If you love Bon Jovi, especially when he plays live, you'll love this DVD.

Another plus to the DVD is he plays 3 songs from previous albums that kind of go along with the Lost Highway country vibe in Wanted Dead or Alive, Who Says You Can't go Home, and a song that might not be really country but was huge It's My Life.

Overall the DVD is awesome and bonus interviews, while they may be short are great. So buy the DVD and add it to your Bon Jovi Collection.
