Nostradamus Reviews:
Nostradamus
2009-12-15 - Nostradamus being Judas Priest first concept album and is similair to such releases such as Kraftwerks Autobahn and The Who's The Wall and they mix heavy metal and symphonic metal without it sounding trite or forced. The booklet is quite elaborate with linernotes written by the band, all the lyrics are included and very beautiful artwork that fits right in with the theme. Allmusic gave the album a quite negative review (2.5/5 ) and Popmatters was also lower then I expected. The lyrics are well-written and the melodies are astounding with great guitar solos. 4/5.
2008 Judas Priest
2009-09-28 - The best song on the record is Prophecy, and the rest of the record, although slow moving, is still interesting to listen to, with it's guitar synthesizers and all. Quite an ambitious effort for the group, a concept record/rock opera, and Rob Halford has the voice for it.
How did they do this???
2009-09-19 - Epic, heart-wrenching, beautiful, haunting, inspired, an absolute masterpiece! It's truly astonishing this late in the game, Judas Priest makes something this special and gets almost no credit for it, while other metal bands half their age are just struggling to string together 50 minutes of competent music! How did they do this???
I'm usually much more specific in my reviews, but I'm so moved by this record, I can't bring myself to pick it apart. It's a wonder!
There was talk of a live performance of this whole record for DVD, I hope so much that they do it!
New music judas priest
2009-08-14 - We had tickets to go to their concert and wanted to hear what the new music was like. It was alot like their old stuff so we did enjoy listening to it to be familar with what we would hear at the concert
If you give this masterpiece time, it will reward.
2009-07-09 - It takes, two, three, maybe four complete listens to fully appreciate the superb compositional quality of this work. It's all here. Searing leads, pounding rhythms, blazing fast tempos, and more... The MORE is complex, well played, well arranged masses of keyboards as well as orchestral passages that elevate this work WAY BEYOND all previous Priest albums. I truly believe this is their finest work. All hail to a group who have managed to re-invent themselves and come out better than ever. Wonderful!
