Editorial Review:
Welcome to the Playlist series. We've fished through hundreds of tracks to cherry pick the perfect playlists. Not just the hits, but...the life-changing songs. The out-of-print tracks. The fan favorites everyone loves. The songs that make the artists who they are.

You'll no doubt enjoy the sound of the beautifully remastered songs on this CD, unlike the compromised sound of an MP3 file.

You might also like the fact that the packages are environmentally-friendly (no plastic, 100% recycled paper).

But we think the thing you'll appreciate most about this Playlist is that even though you didn't make it, you might wish you did. This package has been created with the environment in mind. All of the paperboard is 100% recycled and 100% recyclable. Of course, we would prefer that you not throw this package or CD away. We would prefer that you keep it in your collection to enjoy for many years to come!

Full liner notes, photos, and more included as a PDF file on this CD. Enjoy!

Great variety of Priest songs! 5 Star Review
2009-06-07 - I don't usually buy "best of" collections but PLAYLIST: THE VERY BEST OF JUDAS PRIEST has such a great playlist of Priest tunes that I couldn't resist. In addition, the remastered songs sound better than ever.

THE SONGLIST:

"Breaking the Law" and "Living After Midnight" from BRITISH STEEL (1980). The cd gets Priest's two moronic 'hits' out of the way right out of the gate. Not that they're not fun songs, just a tad juvenile and forgettable.

"Screaming for Vengeance" from SCREAMING FOR VENGEANCE (1982). This is a killer speed metal tune about everyone's innate desire to escape the societal shackles holding them down in this world, e.g. "Everyone who makes it in the great escape leaves a thousand more to suffer in the wake."

"Judas Rising" from ANGEL OF RETRIBUTION (2005). This one has an energetic drum track but I find the song itself one-dimensional and ho-hum.

"Painkiller" from PAINKILLER (1990). This is another killer speed metal song. It strangely never really tripped my trigger though, yet I'm glad it's here to represent Priest's speedy-aggressive side.

"Heading Out to the Highway" from POINT OF ENTRY (1981). This is a stellar metal song relating life to a trip on the highway, e.g. "Making a curve or taking the strain; On the decline or out on the wain; Oh everybody breaks down sooner or later; Put it to rights, square up and mend; Back on your feet to take the next bend; You're aware that every storm is coming at ya!"

"Ram it Down" from RAM IT DOWN (1988). This is a lively number with smokin' lead solos, although I'd rather hear "Hard as Iron" or a couple of others from RAM IT DOWN.

"Freewheel Burning" from DEFENDERS OF THE FAITH (1984). Another speedy, likable track.

"The Green Manalishi (with the Two-Pronged Crown)" from UNLEASHED IN THE EAST (1979). The studio version is better as is the one from '98 LIVE MELTDOWN, but I don't mind. This is a great song you never tire of hearing.

"You've Got Another Thing Coming" from SCREAMING FOR VENGEANCE (1982). A 'hit' song that was actually great, how about that?

"Dissident Aggressor" from SIN AFTER SIN (1977). The inclusion of this song certainly ups the credibility of the collection! This is a short, quasi-gothic dynamo of a number. The lyrics are a mite ambiguous but they deal with a brainwashed militant and the impregnable Berlin Wall.

"Delivering the Goods" from HELL BENT FOR LEATHER (1979). This is a timeless metal tune -- totally original and vastly underrated in the Priest catalog.

"Revolution" from ANGEL OF RETRIBUTION (2005). A Zeppelin-esque 'hit' song from the modern era. I love it.

"All Guns Blazing" from PAINKILLER (1990). This is an unexpected and interesting inclusion on the disc -- a fiery, catchy little tune, if nothing else.

I like the fact that the cd doesn't include more than two tracks from any one album.

My only criticism is that they should have included at least one song from the underrated Ripper era (1996-2003). How about "Blood Stained," "Bullet Train," "Cathedral Spires," "Hell is Home," "Feed on Me" or "Subterfuge"? Each of these songs rank with Priest's best.

Twin Turbo 4 Star Review
2008-09-18 - The long awaited Twin Turbo album is here, only legal limbo didn't allow it to actually be called Twin Turbo. This CD showcases the technical beauty of the band Judas Priest who was popular in the 1980s, only to see it crashiong down with an inspired suicide case over alleged subliminal messages. From then on, all musical suicide cases are thrown out. Their more recent stuff from the 1986 album Turbo onwards is pretty mello stuff, a Poison likew alternative to more hardcore metal. I now see Painkiller album and Angel of Retribution correctly as an expansion of the more light hearted feel of Turbo and Ram it Down. Not evenb a single track from the Tim Owens period is here; they said he wasn't the classic guy, they loved him though, so they just brought Rob Halford back to be less thrash oriented. Twin Turbo I like it!
