Editorial Review: A CHICAGO CON MAN BREAKS INTO A LUXURY HOME AND MAKES THE MOSTOF BEING MISTAKEN FOR A HOUSESITTER. Opportunity Knocks Reviews: Hilarious! 2009-11-30 - This movie is very very funny! The first time my dad saw it he was laughing so hard he fell down in the video store and was rolling around on the floor laughing. It is a family favorite!
Really funny! 2009-09-05 - I remember this movie from T.V. and a trully enjoy it a lot. It is perhaps the only Dana Carvey movie really worth watching. For those who like silly 80's romantic comedies this one is for you.
A Favorite 2008-12-26 - If you can overlook the lack of quality acting, this movie is pretty good! Dana Carvey is classic in this, playing quite a different role than most of his Saturday Night Live personae. The movie is probably not suitable for small children because of some adult themes and language, but with appropriate supervision should be fine for most of the family. For less than $10, it is a great choice if you need to get to $25 for that free shipping!
Dana Carvey's Best Movie 2008-02-26 - I liked this movie the first time I saw it and have watched it several times over the years. It is a bit dated now, but it is an original story with a lot of good laughs. A great movie to have fun and escape for a couple of hours. Enjoy and have a laugh - it is good for your health. :)
Dana Carvey makes this movie!!! 2007-07-05 - Any other actor in the role of Eddie Farrell aka Jonathan, the housesitter, could not have pulled it off. It is as if the role was written with Carvey in mind - his antics and comedic timing were perfectly funny and in every scene he is in(which is pretty much everyone of them), i laughed, wholeheartedly. "Opportunity Knocks" is the one of the best movies with an SNL alum. If you are a fan of his characters from the show, you will probably like this movie about a con artist that uses the empty house of a wealthy bachelor to get into the lives of his family and fall in love in the process. Robert Loggia is very good as the father of both the homeowner and Annie, his sister.
I remember watching this movie over and over and laughing every time back when it first came on video. Between his karaoke stylings of "Born to be wild" and his imiation of George Bush(the first president in the family), you will be rolling with laughter. THis is a great comedy from a great comedian. I highly recommend it for a great laugh
