Editorial Review:
This strange movie with a niche subject--jazz-loving, dance-loving German kids persecuted by Hitler's men--almost works, thanks to a good cast who seem devoted to the unusual story line. Director Thomas Carter doesn't bring the necessary stylistic oomph to the musical sequences, something that might have pushed the whole production to another, more interesting level of Hollywood dream. Kenneth Branagh makes a particularly effective, wolf-in-sheep's-clothing Nazi official. --Tom Keogh
Swing Kids [Region 2] Reviews:
Very slow shipping!
2009-09-27 - Shipping was slow, it took over three weeks; but the dvd was in new and unopened condition just as advertised. Can't complain about quality.
Swing Kids
2009-07-13 - This is one of the most moving and wonderful films I've seen. The acting is amazing, the story is breathtaking, and I would recommend it to anyone.
An essential piece of political, social and musc history!
2009-06-28 - This was an excellent way to see history become real. This film is as important as Orwell's "1984," but looking back, instead of forward.
Got Dancin'
2009-06-15 - Excellent little movie.
Ups were the music and dancing.
Downs were the politics of the day and the tragedies that afflicted the Swing Kids.
A MUST SEE
2009-05-07 - I watch it over and over and never tire of it. It's an awesome story, the cast is perfect, and there is always something new to observe. Robert Sean Leonard is squeeable and the three boys who star in the piece can make a fangirl out of anybody. Even a couple boys I know ^_~.
