Description of Happy Gilmore (Full Screen Special Edition):
Adam Sandler fans are sure to enjoy this no-brainer comedy, but everyone else is strongly advised to proceed with caution. Before scoring a more enjoyable hit with his 1998 comedy The Wedding Singer, the former Saturday Night Live goofball played Happy Gilmore, a hot-tempered guy whose dreams of hockey stardom elude him. But when he discovers his gift for driving golf balls hundreds of yards, he joins a pro tour to win the prize money needed to rescue his beloved grandma's home from IRS repossession. The trouble is, Happy's not so happy. He's got a temper that frequently flares on the golf course (he even dukes it out with celebrity golfer Bob Barker), but a retired golf pro (Carl Weathers) and a compassionate publicist (Julie Bowen) help him to perfect his putting game and adjust his confrontational attitude. How much you enjoy this lunacy depends on your tolerance for Sandler's loudmouthed schtick and a shocking number of blatant product-placement endorsements, but if you're looking for broad comedy you've come to the right teeoff spot. --Jeff Shannon
Happy Gilmore (Full Screen Special Edition) Reviews:
Doesnt Work
2009-08-07 - Happy Gilmore is my favorite Adam Sandler movie and I was so excited to finally have it. But it skips the entire part of the movie with Bob Barker and the final match between Happy Gilmore and Shooter McGavin. That really upset me. It will freeze at certain parts in the movie too. And I didnt scratch it or anything, I took it out of its case and put it in my dvd player, and it just skips that part and freezes. That really made me mad.

2009-08-04 - Happy Gilmore is a hilarious movie about a hockey player that turns into a great golfer. This is worth watching over and over again.

Happy Gilmore - Best Adam Sandler movie ever?
2009-06-27 - Great movie, classic.
Top five funniest movies ever.
Nothing more to say really.
Enjoy!
A golf movie that's actually entertaining.
2009-02-04 - Happy Gilmore (Adam Sandler), a man who dreams of becoming a pro-hockey player but who has no talent at ice hockey, except for an incredible slap shot, finds that he does have a talent for golf and uses this talent to win enough money in order to save his grandmother's house from being sold to pay back taxes.
Although not as good as Sandler's previous movie, "Billy Madison" (there's no penguins, for starters), "Happy Gilmore" is still a pretty funny film and likely to please fans of Sandler's weird and slightly-warped humour. The sub-plot featuring Ben Stiller as an orderly who runs a nursing home like a sweatshop is a perfect example of this. What stands out most about "Happy Gilmore", however, is that it actually manages to make golf seem interesting. With his hockey background, Gilmore turns his golfing tournaments into over-the-top madness by swearing, throwing around clubs and beating up other players, thus attracting scores of fans and it makes perfect sense, since while watching it, I kept on thinking how I would pay to watch this sort of thing, too. Hey, by buying this DVD, in effect I did. If you hate Sandler's other films, then you're probably going to hate this as well. Nevertheless, compared to some of the comedies that have been coming out in recent years, "Happy Gilmore" is much funnier and clean enough to show your children, so it is definitely worth giving a chance.
