  • Editorial Review:
It's brains over brawn as Tim Allen reunites with The Santa Clause director John Pasquin for this amiable comedy about a devoted dad who almost lets his fists do the talking. After being humiliated by the office bully (played by The Tick's Patrick Warburton), corporate nebbish Joe Scheffer (Allen) vows revenge. He becomes an office celebrity, taking kung fu lessons with a has-been action star (Jim Belushi) and preparing for a rematch against his tormentor. Kid stuff, to be sure, but Joe Somebody benefits from Allen's Everyman appeal, especially when he's getting his values adjusted by a caring colleague (Julie Bowen, from TV's Ed), or trying to make good with his daughter (Hayden Panettiere) and ex-wife (Kelly Lynch). The comedy is pure vanilla, and the good-guy lessons are learned with bland, family-fare efficiency, but the Allen-Bowen romance is gently engaging, and Allen's flair for slapstick doesn't go to waste. As a pacifist hero, this Joe is somebody to root for. --Jeff Shannon

    Joe Somebody [Region 2] Reviews:
    no shipment 1 Star Review
2009-04-07 - I have not received this product. It was due no later than 30 March 2009 and is now 9 days late. It has been a month since I ordered this product so I suppose it is not going to come. Have already paid for it with my VISA purchase.

I do not rank this as a place of business I would recommend to anyone.

A feelgood movie that is underrated 5 Star Review
2009-02-14 - Most people have not heard of this movie, or would read it's professional reviews and skip it, which is a shame. You probably can figure out the whole storyline within the first few minutes, but the way they get to it is not exactly the way you think it will be. Tim Allen is GREAT in this, and I put that in capital letters for a reason. He plays this role exactly how it should be played, and he is not anywhere close to Tim the Tool Man Taylor like you may be thinking. Every role in this movie is played exactly as it should be, from the slimy boss to the has-been action star, the ex-wife who starts wondering why she left Joe to begin with, and the daughter who hides her talent so she doesn't stand out in the crowd. A great movie that everybody should at least give a chance.

The seller does an excellent job in refinishing the DVD, and you can't beat the price. It literally looked brand new.

OSCAR WINNER NO........ENJOYABLE ROMANTIC COMEDY....... YES! 4 Star Review
2007-07-24 - You know, sometimes you just want to watch a movie that doesn't tax your brain. "Joe Somebody" is a good romantic comedy that has a message I'm sure we can all agree on "Be Yourself"! The cast seems to be enjoying themselves and that carries over on to the viewer. I don't think Tim Allen has ever been more likable and the romantic chemistry between him and quirky cutie Julie Bowen is believable.

Jim Belushi is very amusing as a "has been" action hero star turned boozer Karate instructor, so the next time you wake up in one of those "I don't want to do anything moods" It might be time to watch "Joe Somebody" It just might have the inspirational fluff you need! lol! The DVD transfer is very good and is a worthy purchase. You can find this for under $5.00.

THE KARATE KLUTZ 3 Star Review
2006-05-29 - JOE SOMEBODY has a pretty clear message: being "somebody" is mainly being yourself, and star Tim Allen does a good job in bringing this message home. He plays Joe, a nice corporate visual aid consultant, who gets slapped around by a bully employee in front of his impressionistic daughter. He decides to take lessons from a has been karate movie star, and challenges the bully to a rematch. It's all cutesy stuff, but it benefits from Allen's on target performance and a nice supporting cast including Julie Bowen, Hayden Patteniere, Patrick Warburton and Jim Belushi as the karate instructor. It's ending is not predictable and that is refreshing in movies of this type. Fans of Allen will love it; you'll like it too.

A nice picture with my idol 4 Star Review
2005-07-28 - A really nice picture. I loved it, I enjoyed it very much.
I am a Tim Allen's huge fan and he is adorable in this film. I hope to have another Allen's film soon.
