Dreamer Reviews:
Very Nice
2009-09-09 - beautiful music by John Debney. this guy is really talented. i listen to this soundtrack all the time, and every time it transports me to a more serene and relaxing place. so glad i bought this.
Relaxing - What Society Needs
2007-05-15 - Prior to watching this movie with our 9 year old daughter, we had watched, a few days earlier, "Boondoggle Saints", which our 18 year old had said was a "great" movie. That movie was filled with nothing but voilence, blood, and terrible language. It made me think what was wrong with our society.
We then had the pleasure to watch this movie, and it made me think about the better parts of our society, and the innocence of young minds.
I was so impressed with the music, I went out and got the soundtrack the next day. While the theme song is repeated with various alterations on the CD, is rates a 5 star, plain and simple, for it's soothing effect. It makes one sit back, and think and recall about the good things in life. I for one cannot get enough of the music. The various instruments used are awesome. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for relaxing, uplifiting music.
Simply beautiful and soothing soundtrack!
2006-06-17 - This delightful soundtrack brings the listener back to a more peaceful, easy feeling(Thank you Eagles). Perfect to listen to after a hard days work, or in my case to listen to while at work at my home based business. Usually, I'll purchase a soundtrack, be disappointed and rarely listen to it again. In the case of "Dreamer," I can listen to it over and over again and no matter how hectic things may be, I feel at peace with the world.
WOW , did I say WOW ?
2006-04-08 - I listen to the track as I am on the PC working. Soothing songs, super violins, and just one of the best Soundtracks ever.
THe movie was great and Dakota Fanning is probably the best actress out there, young or older. So the music matches her and the actors personality.
Gentle, lovely little score from Debney...
2005-10-20 - This album is, perhaps, exactly what you'd expect it to be, but it's nonetheless enjoyable. It borrows pages not only from familiar horse-related scores from Thomas Newman ("The Horse Whisperer") and Danny Elfman ("Black Beauty"), but also from such James Horner efforts as "Bicentennial Man" and "Legends of the Fall". The main theme actually sounds quite similar to Alan Silvestri's "Cast Away". The music is well-crafted, and maintains a peaceful, gentle, lullaby-like tone throughout, with the exception of a few exuberant orchestral bursts and some acoustic guitar work that's quite spunky. Adding quite a bit to the proceedings is acclaimed violinist Joshua Bell, who sadly isn't featured as much as his should be. If my comments sound just a tad negative, perhaps it's because this score is so often so derivative. But on it's own, as a listening experience, it's beautiful, gentle, and soothing, and I would absolutely recommend it for the casual film score fan looking for a break from the usual bombast. The only real detractor is the somewhat annoying teen-pop song tacked on at the end, it breaks up the musical flow of things. This score represents a solid effort from Debney, who continues to mature and improve, and a winner of a score, especially for fans of the gentler work of Horner and T. Newman.
