Editorial Review:
UK two track pressing of this single lifted from Kanye's Graduation album and featuring the smooth crooning vocals of Coldplay's Chris Martin. Written in an impromptu jam at Abbey Road, 'Homecoming' tells the story of a childhood sweetheart that slipped through his fingers. Kanye West invites us to share in the experience of a local kid returning to his old neighborhood, conjuring up memories of old friends and past loves. The track is laden with piano-tinted grooves, emotive lyrics of nostalgia as only Kanye could deliver. Features 'Homecoming' (Album Version) plus 'Stronger' (AD Remix). Mercury.
Homecoming/Stronger Reviews:
A Collaboration Made in Heaven
2009-01-12 - Okay... I must admit that Coldplay is my favorite group and Kanye West is my favorite Rapper... If I could choose a dream song... it would be Kanye West's Homecoming featuring Chris Martin. The beat is great and the word's to the song hit home with me. (No pun intended). I can listen to this over and over, it never tires me. I highly recommend you add this one to your Kanye West and/or Coldplay collection.
Kanye Does it (once) Again
2008-05-20 - Kanye West is definitely one of the best rappers of his generation, his vocals and beats are supported by AMAZING meaning behind his lyrics, each line and hook are meaningful and delightful to hear.
This song (Homecoming) is actually about his connection to the city of Chicago, and his personification (when's the last time you found that in a rap?) of the City. Deep feelings of loyalty and melancholy dance artfully through the song as does Chris Martin's inspiring piano.
A must download, but go check it out on youtube first, you'll see the music video is shot in Chicago, IL.
I LOVE KANYE, and this album (Graduation) is the best music I've heard all year!
