Jack Shepard a.k.a. 'Zoom' is an out-of-shape auto shop owner, far removed from the man who once protected the world's freedom. Reluctantly called back into action by the government, Jack is charged with turning a rag tag group of kids with special powers into a new generation of superheroes to save the world from certain destruction. Based on Jason Lethcoe's popular graphic novel Zoom's Academy for the Super Gifted.

The bright colors and simple stories of classic superhero comics are the template for Zoom--none of that moody, bleak X-Men nonsense here. Retired superhero Captain Zoom (Tim Allen, The Shaggy Dog) gets pulled out of mothballs when the government decides to assemble a new team of super-powered kids. The motley quartet includes a herculean little girl (Ryan Newman), an invisible slacker (Michael Cassidy, The O.C. ), a telekinetic hot chick (Kate Mara, 24), and a chunky lad whose body inflates to enormous size (Spencer Breslin, The Cat in the Hat, The Kid). But Zoom has lost his super-speed and gained a cynical chip on his shoulder; will he regain his faith in heroes in time to battle an impending menace? There's nothing original about Zoom, but the engaging cast--which also includes Courteney Cox (Friends), Kevin Zegers (Transamerica), and Rip Torn (Men in Black, Forty Shades of Blue)--could have given some pep to a competent formulaic script. Unfortunately, they were saddled with this one. But the saddest aspect of Zoom is the sight of Chevy Chase (Foul Play, Fletch) trying to muster a scrap of his lost talent. --Bret Fetzer

WONDERFUL copy of this movie! 
2009-09-11 - I was not sure what to expect from this movie but upon reviewing it, I am VERY pleased. My stepson LOVES this movie. He wants to watch it every time he is over! :) Great condition, thank you.
Great movie for kids 
2009-02-14 - This is a funny movie, but not really intended for adults. My 3 year old loves this movie and watches it all the time. We showed it to the daycare he goes to and all of the kids 2-6 love the movie. I would recommend this to a younger crowd.
fun movie
2009-02-10 - This is a fun - superhero movie. It has got soon to be superheroes from ages 6 years to 17; so this is a fun movie for the whole family. And, of course Tim Allen is always worth a watch.
Better than 'Sky High'
2008-12-05 - This was quite a good film, made better by Courtney Cox (friends), Chevy Chase (fletch, vacation movies) and Rip Torn (men in black).
Tim Allen does O.K. in this film as well. The plot is a bit cheesy, but the characters make up for that. A good (cheap) entertaining film.
The only thing that let it down slightly, was the wooden acting by the super hero's (kids). In that way, Sky High is better. But overall, i prefer Zoom!
