Editorial Review: No Description Available. Genre: Feature Film-Drama Rating: UN Release Date: 5-FEB-2008 Media Type: DVD Inside Out Reviews: great movie 2007-11-07 - some of the other reviewers are right, this movie will keep you guessing until the end. what exactly is going on? is dr peebles really a bad guy? but he is so likeable of a character. the ending in not pointless but very moving, if you like drama movies. check this out..
A Good Premise 2007-10-13 - This story has an interesting premise. A rather eccentric African-American psychologist moves into a typical American suburb and immediately arouses the suspicions of the old-guard residents there. As these residents start to peer and pry into the psychologist's life, they begin to suspect him of terrible crimes. However at the same time, each of the nosy residents is engaging in some soul-destroying behavior within the privacy of his own home.
The viewer is kept guessing. Is the psychologist really a wife-killer? Or is he simply making the other residents involuntary participants in some unconventional course of psychiatric treatment? Is the psychologist holding a mirror up to the other suburbanites hoping to make them aware of their own crimes?
This would be a really original, absorbing drama. However, it loses its way a little. There is a distracting subplot involving adoption. And the movie's end drags on too long with tiers of explanation. Also, the unfolding of the whole storyline is somewhat muddied with a bit too much quirkiness and occasional illogic.
But this is still a very worthwhile DVD. With a little rewriting, its idea could have been a challenging, award-winning movie.
One of the worst movies ever! 2007-09-12 - At the end of this awful movie I was begging for the two hours back. Figured out the hidden meanings and plot in about 15 seconds. A real stink of a movie. The investers in this must still be hoping to recoup their $18!
Oh, a worse movie has yet to cross my path.
Inside Out 2007-07-12 - I enjoyed this film. Clever. Tense. It's a good entertaining DVD for a relaxing evening at home.
Psychological drama with some good twists in the plot 2007-07-07 - Inside Out was much better than I originally anticipated, particularly the script as well as a good cast of mainstream actors and actresses. Sometimes an indie film can suffer from quality directing or merely a lack of good actors, and in this case the film is strong in both areas, telling me perhaps the had a little better budget to go on than the usual.
A psychological drama starring Eriq La Salle as well as Steven Weber, the film centers on the nice, new homes within a modern neighborhood. Several families are featured as couples all drive to and from work, while dealing with inner turmoil within the privacy of their own homes. This is disrupted when a supposed doctor (played by La Salle) moves in during the dark hours of the night, and things are suddenly never the same. As Weber's character battles with his wife over bedroom issues as well as a seemingly troubled son, the good doctor suddenly seems to be in their lives as well as everyone else's. Weber does a fantastic job of playing his character, which spins into a downward spiral of paranoia and resentment as his world around him unravels one day at a time.
Excellent script and well paced directing, for an indie film that does have a strong cast, it lives up to its potential as even more mystery unfolds for a dramatic conclusion nobody sees coming. Perhaps not a classic, however "Inside Out" is definitely worth renting for a Saturday afternoon at home.
