Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler star in this wildly funny battle of the sexes. Abby (Heigl), a successful morning show producer, is looking for a lot in a man. Mike (Butler), her obnoxious TV star, knows men only want one thing. Determined to prove that she's not romantically challenged, Abby takes Mike's advice during a promising new romance, but the unexpected results will stun everyone.

    The Ugly Truth [Blu-ray] Reviews:
A Good View of the Opposite Sex, boldly hillarious, and Sweet at the End 5 Star Review
2009-11-26 - I expected this movie to be funny, however it raised my expectations. It had me laughing, crying, and awwing many seens...Truly a must see!!! Four thumbs up in my part! I think Heigle and Gerard Butler were such an unsual match, but complimented each other. You could actually feel their chemistry as though it was real!!!!

Much better than reviewed 5 Star Review
2009-11-26 - I recently saw this and thought it was much better than I heard it was. The story, well, nothing new. Abby is an overly controlling working woman who thinks applying professional skills to romance will make for success. She brings a background check to a date. She is lost, I think a product of too many woman magazines telling her bad advice. Eventually, the show she produces brings in a loud mouth, Mike, who says all the things Abby thinks is horrible. Although I get the sense that the movie was cut up because Mike doesn't get a ton of background, he is just a normal good guy that got sick of saying the *right things* and saying the wrong things gave him a career.

I am sure you know where this is going, however, the thing that makes this flick stand out, is that Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl have excellent chemistry. Butler doesn't look like a guy who mildly likes Abby, he looks like truly enjoys every bit of her. Heigl has the same look on the whole movie, like even not in a romantic story both truly would choose each other to do things with. There is a side story about her trying to get the perfect doctor and that helps Mike and Abby have something to do, but, it is always clear that both prefer to be around each other in a very genuine and pleasing way.

There aren't a ton of faux blocks to the romance and the movie is short. Simple and good. That is all you can ask for.

Love this movie!!!! 5 Star Review
2009-11-24 - I love this movie. Very Funny!! Who does not like Gerald Butler anyway, I mean... come on!

It's okay, not great. 3 Star Review
2009-11-24 - This is a typical battle of the sexes and you can pretty much anticipate the flow of the movie.
That being said: It's a chick flick and we like them and watch them anyway.
    We like happy endings.
Well in this regard, this movie does not disappoint.

Gerard Butler is cute as usual in his burly masculine way, but sans his sexy accent. I really miss that.
Katherine Heigl is an ice princess with only a goofy victory dance to endear you to her character. I'm sure she is attractive enough for the men in the audience (I suspect very few men are in the audience), but she does not come across as being similar to the rest of us. I think for a chick flick to work, we have to identify with the character. Think Julia Roberts, Meg Ryan,...you get the picture.

The movie has some funny moments, but what really struck me was some of the more crass dialog and swearing.
Hey, I've been around and work in an office, but it sometimes seemed out of character and out of place.
Gratuitous comes to mind here. Maybe there's a quota they have to make??
Anyway, it was okay. Not great.
This is no When Harry met Sally or for that matter Sleepless in Seattle, but a relatively comical evening's movie to watch.
Without Gerard Butler involved though, I think this movie would have crashed and burned.

    Hilarious!!! 5 Star Review
2009-11-23 - Just bought this movie and watched over the weekend with a male friend of mine and we both loved it! It's hilarious, naughty, sexy movie...love Gerard Butler and paired with Katherine Heigl they're both great! I really recommend this movie to both female and male viewers, both will really enjoy it!!!
