    Description of Body Heat [Blu-ray]:
While scoring high-profile credits as a screenwriter (including The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and Raiders of the Lost Ark), Lawrence Kasdan made his directorial debut with this steamy, contemporary film noir in the tradition of Double Indemnity and other classics from the 1940s. In one of his most memorable roles, William Hurt plays a Florida lawyer unwittingly drawn into a web of deceit spun by Kathleen Turner (in her screen debut) as a married socialite who plots to kill off her husband with Hurt's assistance. Kasdan's dialogue is a hoot (sometimes it borders on satire), and the sultry atmosphere is a perfect complement to the perspiration-soaked chemistry between Hurt and Turner, whose love scenes caused quite a stir when the film was released in 1981. John Barry's score sets the provocative mood, and both Ted Danson and Mickey Rourke are splendid in memorable supporting roles. --Jeff Shannon

    Body Heat [Blu-ray] Reviews:
Body Heat... The Heat is On 5 Star Review
2009-10-21 - Body Heat: 9 out of 10: Many successful movies lose their ability to shock over the years. After hundreds of copy cats Alien isn't as effective as when it first came out. Kramer vs. Kramer certainly isn't the shocking eye opener it once was.

Body Heat should suffer the same fate. It doesn't. Despite a hundred direct to video takes on the same story (six of them with the exact same title) the movie still works. In fact it works very well indeed.

Writer Lawrence Kasdan had just penned Raiders of the Lost Ark and Empire Strikes Back so it is a surprise he chooses noir for his first directing outing. (His next film was The Big Chill so this is one guy hard to pigeonhole) He both updates and in many ways upgrades the noir of the past.

By setting the movie in a Podunk Florida town he invokes John D Macdonald the way no Macdonald movie treatment has successfully done. His then unknown actors William Hurt and Kathleen Turner are pitch perfect.

This is a movie that really brings some new things to the table as it does some old things very well indeed. Like the best noir you are too involved to even begin to try to guess the next twist and turn.

Like Scorsese in Goodfellas or Huston in the Maltese Falcon Kasdan's directing is obviously very good yet his tricks remain hidden from view. Not a wasted shot and your television will sweat from all the heat generated.

Highly recommended to all fans of noir or simply fans of movies.

2009-09-22 - this is a sweat-inducing,remastered edition of perhaps the most stunning debut movie ever.a classy and seductive entertaiment. with:william hurt and kathleen turner. haunting tale of desire and skullduggery that echoes 1940 film noirs but is charged with an energy and passion that could only flare in the 80s.

2009-09-13 - You could feel the heat and humidity from just watching this movie. Good acting, directing, editing -it certainly withstands the passage of time.

    Body Heeeeaaaatttttt!!!! 4 Star Review
2009-09-12 - I ordered this movie because I had heard so much about it but I had actually never watched it. It was exactly as described by friends and possibly under-rated. I really enjoyed it not only because of the simplest of sexual overtones but Body Heat have an excellant ploy and storyline as well. Excellent movie to watch with significant other!!!! Definitely not for kids or really teenagers for that matter.

Sultry and melodic classic 5 Star Review
2009-08-18 - I remember the first time I saw this classic. It was when HBO was just really taking off on cable TV and they used to run the same movies over and over again(like John Boorman's Excaliber, Walter Hill's Warriors, and Eddy and the Cruisers - remember?). From the opening scene of the fire in the background and the score by Barry to the hot scenes with Hurt and Turner, this movie just draws you in and takes you for a ride that you rarely experience in cinema. Great story, great dialogue, great acting, great musical score, JUST GREAT! I never get tired of watching this movie. Now that the deluxe edition is SO CHEAP, every film buff must get one.
