  • Editorial Review:
Keanu Reeves (The Matrix) and Alex Winter (The Lost Boys) deliver "spirited performances" (The Hollywood Reporter) in the original righteous comedy about the two ditzy dudes from San Dimas, California. Also starring George Carlin, this hysterically funny historical comedy is a "snappily directed" (Time), "bouncy good time" (The Boston Globe) and a party that goes on and on! Bill (Winter) and Ted (Reeves) have spent so much time forming their rock band, The Wyld Stallyns, that they're flunking history. Whoa, duuuude! And when Ted's dad threatens to send him away to military school, Bill and Ted realize it could mean the most heinous end of The Stallyns! Luckily, a guardian angel from the future, Rufus (Carlin), has come to them with a most bodacious solution: a time-traversing phone booth to take them into the past to learn about the world from some of history's most influential personalities. Their journey through time turns out to be a blastÂ...but will they learn enough to pass their class?

Description of Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure:
Like, radical, dude--but not nearly as funny as it should be, even though it was a box-office hit. Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are a pair of dim Valley boys, whose life is made heinous by a school history project. Enter George Carlin as a futuristic dude with a time-traveling phone booth. So Bill and Ted go back in time to round up a gang of historical figures (Socrates, Joan of Arc) to bring back for their presentation. Abe Lincoln at the mall? That's about as witty as it gets, rendering this the kind of comedy that gives teenaged audiences a bad name. --Marshall Fine

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure Reviews:
Comedy that ages well! Go San Dimas High! 4 Star Review
2009-12-03 - I've probably watched this movie five times. I laugh every time! The acting of Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter is so down to earth... these guys are not the sharpest tacks in the room, but they make use of what they have to work with a futuristic George Carlin to bring piece and balance to the universe.

All they have to do is to learn to play music (and, of course, pass their history course).

I've got (I admit) a VHS tape, and you certainly want to get a DVD or other digital recording. Those VHS tapes don't age too well (mine is probably 15+ years old).

The jocularity of the movie is worth the investment to me to upgrade one of these days. And I certainly like this film better than I like the sequel, Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey.

    Be excellent to each other!

    Awesome! 5 Star Review
2009-10-02 - I sat and watched this with my boyfriend and laughed my head off. If you want a light funny movie, this is it.

2009-06-26 - Item was a little more worn than description indicated, but transaction was easy and fast.

Words Cannot Express This Most Excellent Movie 5 Star Review
2009-05-15 - There is only one word to describe this most excellent movie: Excellent! *air guitar*. NOthing beats this hilarious movie about two high-school slackers. This is hands down the funnest, funniest pair of friends ever. If only there was a pair as lovable and hilarious as this in our high schools, High School would be a lot better for most of us.

Not to mention all of the kick-@$$ one-liners abound. "Those are Historical Babes", "You Gotta Have A poker Face, like me", "69 Dudes!", "excellent!". "Shut Up Ted", "Bogus!", "Iron Maiden? Excellent!". Their antics are also hilarious, as watching them try to jam at the beginning (and blow out the amps) is priceless. Geeze, could I be any more blunt? This is an all time classic that deserves to be loved.

Napolean Dynamite wishes it could be this funny. The funniest deadpan humor movie ever.

    Valley boys. 4 Star Review
2009-01-16 - Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure was a film I saw at the drive-in when I was little and I loved this silly comedy to pieces. Even back then Keanu Reeves stood out, you knew he was gonna be a big star, Alex Winter... he didn't have the same luck. This film is dumb but funny, the late George Carlin stars in this as well. This comedy is totally righteous, check it out dudes!
