Editorial Review:
East Tennessee-born singer Kenny Chesney has, in the course of his relatively brief career, proven to be an unremarkable but thoroughly competent singer who shows occasional flashes of brilliance when teamed with the right song. That happens roughly half the time on this 17-cut compilation disc, which, despite its title, actually includes four new songs, one rerecording, and a remix. Amid soppy country-pop chart fodder ("Me and You," "When I Close My Eyes") and second-rate ditties ("How Forever Feels," "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy"), Chesney hits his stride on robust country ballads like "You Had Me from Hello" and the lead single "I Lost It." On other gems--like "That's Why I'm Here," a heartfelt tribute to the Alcoholics Anonymous 12-step program that topped the charts a while back; "Baptism," a great duet with Randy Travis; and his fine rerecording of "Tin Man," the song that launched his career in the mid '90s--Chesney even manages to attain an ephemeral but utterly moving transcendence over his vocal limitations and sometimes questionable song choices. --Bob Allen
Kenny Chesney - Greatest Hits Reviews:
great collection of Chesney songs
2009-11-01 - Absolute wonderful collection of Chesney songs--won't dissapoint you.
"You Had Me From Hello" ws the highlight for me but they are all good.
The CW man
2009-08-28 - Kenny is # 1 and the proof lies in his "Greatest Hits". In my humble opinion, there's no one finer.
Happy Country Music!
2009-06-24 - We liked it! Kenny Chesney grows on you. Romantic, happy, easy to sing-along with. Mellow and easy to listen to. We aren't usually fond of the new country music, but we've grown to like this. A good mix of songs. Eases your mind at the end of a long day. We'd buy this again!
Some Good Songs
2009-05-23 - Kenny Chesney and the entire beach cowboy attitude is a bit funny and has so many aspects of Jimmy Buffet, but I feel right at home listening to both Chesney and Buffet.
Love the beach, ocean, girls in bikinis, a Corona with lime, sitting under the shade in a hammock, getting some sun on a boat deck, sport fishing, or strumming a guitar while looking at the waves.
Many of Kenny's songs reflect a similar love and he has a great country twang and sound with a sense of humor.
Several songs in this compilation I like. I know I'm missing many great unreleased songs, but for someone like me a greatest hits album is the best bang for the buck.
He Had Me From Hello
2009-03-21 - Kenny is a very emotional singer who had me from hello. His song "The Tin Man" has hit home with me after a failed marriage, "Back Where I Come From" is so poignant that I want to visit the town where he came from, "When I close My Eyes" makes me sing with abandonment, and "How Forever Feels" gives me hope that 'forever' is out there somewhere for me. I love the song "You had Me From Hello"... it fills me with joy when I sing along with him in my PJ's at night when the sun goes down. "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy" really turns me on! I guess you could say that Kenny's about my favorite singer, imparting an almost childlike innocence to every song he writes and sings. I plan on going to his concert here in Birmingham in May 2009 and singing along with every verse! Thanks, Kenny, for all you give to Country fans everywhere!
