AN INTENSE THRILLER ABOUT AN ALL-ENCOMPASSING NETWORK OFCORRUPTION WITHIN A CITY'S JUSTICE SYSTEM THAT NOBODY DARED CHALLENGE - UNTIL NOW.

    Description of Edison Force:
If Edison, the city in which Edison Force takes place, is equivalent to Batman’s Gotham City, then Batman, in this action drama, is Justin Timberlake. Pollack (Timberlake) is a naïve young news reporter who clumsily discovers, and eventually exposes, complete corruption within the F.R.A.T. division of Edison’s police department. F.R.A.T. recruits are unmarried men with a history of violence, contracted out as bounty hunters to halt rampant murder, drug dealing, and prostitution on the streets. As two of their main men, Lazerov (Dylan McDermott) and Deed (LL Cool J) kill several innocent people while on duty, Pollack begins digging for evidence to bust them. Inept, Pollack enlists help from seasoned journalists Moses Ashford (Morgan Freeman) and Lee Wallace (Kevin Spacey), who do help Pollack crack the case, but not without warning Pollack against the perils of devoting one’s life to exposing fraudulent behavior. True journalists, in Edison Force, are superheroes. Though it’s difficult not to envision Timberlake as the pop star he is, it is always a pleasure to see the handsome LL Cool J in a uniform and wielding guns. The most convincing actor in Edison Force is Kevin Spacey, whose hard-boiled acting imbues his part with a Mean Streets quality. Action-packed, this film deserves mention in the history of cop films, though in terms of style, it has nothing on great film noir. --Trinie Dalton

    Edison Force Reviews:
The Best Crime Movie Since 2000!!!!! 5 Star Review
2009-09-29 - This has to be the best crime movie I have ever seen!!!!! I saw this the first time at four in the morning and couldn't stop watching it!!!!! Anyone who thinks this movie stinks, doesn't know a good plot when they see one. The acting was excellent. Justin Timberlake was the absolute perfect guy to play Josh Pollack!!! No one else would have fit Pollack's character!!! This is my number one favorite movie ever!!! I have watched it ten times since I bought it a month ago!!! My dad is actually sick of this movie 'cuz I've watched so many times!!!

WTF? How could so many class actors make such a lousy film? 1 Star Review
2009-08-08 - Short Attention Span Summary:

    1. Corrupt Cop from some superforce decides to shoot some guy for Reasons Unknown.
    2. A journalist mysteriously uncovers information that no one else was able to figure out (despite having access to all the same information that everyone else in the world did-- a la Pelican Brief).
    3. He tries to write an article on it and in the process of researching it, the Corrupt Cop tries to silence him. Corrupt cop also has someone kill a witness who is in prison.
    4. The Corrupt Cop is shot (before the end of the film, where we would have expected him to go out with a big bang).
    5. The rest of the Corrupt Cops unravel.

The challenge of this film is staying awake to watch the hackneyed plot. Save your money and time.

    Just a 3...too bad 3 Star Review
2009-07-10 - I rarely resort to assigning a three to a product. If I feel compelled toward a three, I don't review it. This time, this product "Edison Force" gets a review. Why? Because in better hands, this could have been a really good film.

    WARNING: COULD CONTAIN SPOILER INFORMATION

Why should it work? Here are my reasons:

    1. Morgan Freeman, a universally respected actor, whose presence in a film lends credence to its premise.
    2. Kevin Spacey, another top-notch actor, whose presence in a film lends credence to its premise.
    3. LL Cool J. What a hunk! Oh, excuse me. Got carried away. Body builder!
    4. Justin Timberlake. Just kidding!
    5. John Heard, who can play good or bad. Here he's bad. There's one scene in which he plays his power card until he realizes he needs to put it away for now. You can visibly watch him make that switch from power wielder to man of humility.
    6. Dylan McDermott. I saw an ad last night showing that he will star in a police drama in the fall. I almost laughed after seeing him play a stark raving mad policeman in this film. I listed him in this category so I could mention that maybe he can really act. (Sorry, Dylan, I've never seen you act before. Is Dermott Mulrooney your brother?)
    7. Carey Ewes plays bad good. Who'd have thunk it? He is bad, isn't he? He is certainly oily, but what a sweet facade to hide that corruption.
    8. That's it. The actors alone should make this film work, but they don't. Whose fault is that?

Why doesn't it work? Here are my reasons:

    1. The director David J. Burke. He also wrote the story.
    2. A film about corrupt police most often works. Here the corruption is played as caricature. The F.R.A.T. are so corrupt they have their own locked office area with windows looking in (for those excluded) and for looking out (to rub it in). If there really is this kind of conglomeration, for shame on that city. (First Response Assault and Tactical: Yes, members arrive on the scene first--special offices, remember?--then they respond by assaulting the bad guys and taking their drugs and money or other loot, commit murder and mayhem, then carry out tactical ploys to cover their badness. Or in the words of Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor: We bad! We bad!)
    3. Justin Timberlake: Here he looks too young for the part. His acting also proves a director makes the difference because Justin is excellent in "Alpha Dog" and certainly looks that role. Plus, his "girlfriend" looks more a mother than a GF.
    4. LL Cool J. Yes, he is on both lists, too. Why here? He has two facial expressions: lifted left brow and not lifted. He uses both expressions in potentially compromised scenes and in those when he seeks revelation and justice. Not his fault.
    5. McDermott's character is so out of control and so blatant about it. I blame the director. (I understand McDermott is excellent in "The Practice." I wouldn't have guessed it.)

Enough. With such a fabulous cast of actors and potentially powerful story line, "Edison Force" should have worked. It did, if you like caricature. But that's just my opinion. Some reviewers loved the movie. I'm for that, but I'm holding to my three stars.

    edison force 5 Star Review
2009-06-04 - This is a really great movie. Not for kids. It is based on a true story. It is horribly sad. But it is a must see. This movie will open your eye's. It is filled with excitement.

    edison "effort" 3 Star Review
2008-11-01 - edison force was ok. with a bigger budget and maybe a better director this movie could have been a lot better. Acting wasn't too bad but looking at the cast you almost expected something ten times better. the violence was pretty high as was the action, for this reason i gave it the 3 star rating.
