Good Comedy, Awful Soundtrack
2009-10-04 - I remember seeing the trailer for this film as a kid, and even back then I thought the concept was interesting. Twenty years later, I finally see the movie and it turns out to be more interesting than I thought. Sure the music is awful, there is some exaggeration in plot believability, and the villians are extraordinarily cliche, but the comedy work between Pryor and Wilder turns out to be a winner. They find a way to milk this blind/deaf concept continually in a way that manages to stay fresh for the most part, and the first half of the plot turns out to be quite good for a somewhat lowbrow comedy. This must have been a particularly difficult movie to write for, and perhaps a more difficult movie to act in, but it all seems to come together, with the weird ending and the music being the only really intolerable features. I swear the music almost gave me a headache.

Recommended for Pryor or Wilder fans, and highly recommended for fans of both.

2008-11-23 - From beginning to end, this comedy is a hit. Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder deliver side-splitting performances as one being blind and the other, deaf. Wrongfully accused of a homocide, they find themselves as fugitives and somewhat detectives as they try to clear their names. I don't think any other combination could sell it but these two.

2008-08-27 - Had been unable to purchase this DVD in Australia so I checked on Amazon and low and behold there it was. Ordered it and was excited when it arrived quickly.
DVD plays in my DVD easily, is good quality and cost was decent.

2008-05-31 - I ve always enjoyed this movie. Of the movies wilder & pryor did together this is my favorite. I know other people would debate that because of how good silver streak & stir crazy were but again I like this one the best!its goofy and a little exaggerated with a blind & deaf guy running around catching bad guys but its fun! they have great chemistry together and wilder always been one my favorites considering hes been involved with a number of great movies. when I saw this in the theatre I didnt know who kevin spacey was but that guy has come along way as an actor himself.

anyway, this flick is worth checking out for the stellar banter between wilder & pryor including the inept cops chasing them!

2007-12-19 - i know this film is old but it is still funny as hell! i laughed so hard. these two are a great match for this film. i'm a proud owner of this classic.
