Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast Reviews:
Kid Rock's first studio album 3 Star Review
2009-08-25 - Waaaaay back 20 years ago when Kid Rock considered himself a rapper. Ten years before the Rap/Rock genre was made popular by acts including him, Linkin Park, and Limp Bizkit. Kid signed with Jive Records and released his first studio album titled "Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast." Released in 1990, Rap was still considered a fad by some critics at the time. 18 year old Robert James Ritchie (Kid Rock) moved from Michigan to New York City, made relationships with many area rappers and eventually landed an opening slot on a 20-city tour with Ice Cube and fellow Jive/Zomba Recording artist Too $hort. The sound of the album is definitely a bit dated, although, that era is widely considered the golden age of Hip-Hop by true fans of the genre. The album includes classic tracks such as Kid's tribute to the act of cunniniligus 'Yo-Da-Lin In the Valley' and the bragadocious theme 'Pimp of the Nation'. A must have for hardcore Kid Rock fans.

Grits from Kid Rock 3 Star Review
2009-04-11 - This is old school rap-the fun and silly kind. Not the kill yo mama kind. It is VERY nasty (sexual) so be prepared. My favorite songs are "Yo Da Lin In the Valley" and "Wax the Booty". Don't miss it! And don't listen to around your kids, parents, young siblings or your grandma unless..
they can hang with Black Bob!

Kid Rock's most lackluster album 1 Star Review
2007-09-17 - For those who don't know...Kid Rock was originally a Beastie-style rock/rapper from Detroit not a Southern act. Take a look at the cover of The Polyfuze Method to see what he really looks like. If you're expecting Grit Sandwiches to be anything like his recent music, you will likely be horribly disappointed. And that's not only because his style is different, this album is just mediocre at best - almost no matter how you look at it.

Don't think I'm a Kid Rock hater. The Polyfuze Method is one of my favorite albums and I bought it new 14 years ago. At the time Kid Rock was a nobody outside of Detroit but a local music store in Lincoln, Nebraska had Polyfuze in a listening station. I bought the CD as a gag gift because of the song "Balls In Your Mouth" but later grew to love the long list of great songs on the CD.

That being said, Grit Sandwiches is pretty bad. The beats aren't there and the rap is rather simplistic in both content and delivery. Considering License To Ill was released in '86, this CD doesn't get the job done. I would recommend this CD only to people who are extremely in to 80's style rap or Kid Rock completionists. For sure download it before spending big bucks on this OOP CD.

STOP HATING, u Morons... 4 Star Review
2006-03-10 - Does ANYONE on here know KID ROCK's history ??? He started off as a DJ, became HUGE in the Detroit area, THEN started rapping.
Soooo, he went from, DJ, to Rapping, to Rock/Rap, to Rock, then to Country Blues. He doesnt go back n forth. This album isnt worth a 5, but then again it is 2006, that album dropped in 1990s. You tell me what album still is GOOD from that era ???
This is a great album, it makes you laugh, got some good beats (By TOO $Hort) and had a nice flow. He would be BIGGER then M&M, if he stayed rutted in Boring BASS Beat Hip Hop. But he, UNLIKE all other c"rappers" evolved, and is now recognized in all music genres, and Gets RESPECT by all musicians. And one more thing, to people that say BLACK=RAP, and WHITE= ROCK.... Paul Wall, Beastie Boys, Kid Rock, and Eminem can OUTSELL any top 4 BLACK? rappers in the game. *Great album Kid Rock, and thanks for evolving, and makin even better albums* And to you "Haters" make sure you buy another 50 cent, or G Unit Album NOW... cause UNLIKE Kid Rock, they wont be around in 16 years.

hey idiots 3 Star Review
2005-12-18 - Ok Ill Admit this isnt rocks best album but it was also made in 1990 you cant expect everthing to sound like 2pac ok and the guy who said if he came to my hood shut up cuz u sound rediculous and probly a white boy who wish he was blackandlive in some place like montana and probly cant even spit a verse without quoting other rappers and one last thoughtfor that guy kid rock has respect every were b**ch for the people who read these for info if u like 80s beats and the typical cheesy 80s lyrics this is a good buy if your lookin for eminem style try lil wyte PEACE MUSICMASTER
