Mannequin is notionally a romantic comedy in which Andrew McCarthy plays a luckless department-store employee and Kim Cattrall (Sex and the City) is an Egyptian princess reincarnated as a shop-window dummy, who comes to life when she encounters McCarthy, only to revert to mannequin status when anyone else is watching her. With her encouragement, he becomes emboldened in his career as a window decorator as well as falling in love with the princess. James Spader's oily, stammering executive is just one of the many examples of a film that tries way too hard to be funny, the sort of characterization that would be barely adequate for a TV commercial, let alone a 90-minute movie. Still, for fans of Sex and the City who might want to feast upon the spectacle of a younger Kim Cattrall, Mannequin might offer a measure of relief. --David Stubbs

classic chick flick 
2009-12-23 - Mannequin 1 and 2 are great. I like part 1 my gf loves part 2. The songs are old school late 80's and early 90's. The style is wild because of when the movie was made. It's a very good romantic comedy.
two movies in one
2009-08-20 - I like both movies. Both funny. Actually, I remember seeing the 2nd movie, first time on tv, when I was only 7. The ending song by Starship really stuck inside my head. This was before I saw the first movie 5 years later. Now I have both on DVD for a very good price.
80s Funnies! 
2009-06-24 - Classic 80s! I actually think the second one is better, but both movies are a good watch.

2009-06-13 - I LOVE THIS MOVIE...whenever I need to get out of a funky mood and feel good I know it will lighten my mood and bring many laughs.....it is a great love story and filled with hiolarious characters...like, HOLLOWOOD THE WINDOW DRESSER,....THE MOVIE IS A CHICK FLICK but then it makes me happy......and my husband enjoys it too.
I have not seen Manniquin 2 but doubt it could be better than the original....I will let you knoiw after I view it.
