Description of Kaena - The Prophecy:
Originally a computer-generated, animated feature presented in 3-D, the French-American Kaena: The Prophecy still looks eye-poppingly spectacular in a regular, two-dimensional format. The post-apocalyptic tale concerns an adventurous young woman, Kaena (voiced in English by Kirsten Dunst), who is a member of a race--one of many--that inhabit an enormous tree called the Axis, rising 100 miles from Earth's surface. While her people's leader, Opaz (Richard Harris), insists his tribe's sole purpose is collecting sap and honoring the gods who provide sustenance, Kaena is more interested in exploring. Signs that the Axis might be dying sends Kaena on a mission to find out why; along the way she encounters a slavemaster race, the Selenites, and their vicious queen (Anjelica Huston). Fantastic to look at, Kaena: The Prophecy is graphically dense, constantly moving, and truly inventive when it comes to designing creatures that appear equal parts vegetable and animal. --Tom Keogh

    Kaena - The Prophecy Reviews:
    P>U> This movie stinks!~!! 2 Star Review
2009-12-03 - Ok, First of all it should have been a game, NOT a movie as it was created using game creation software. The plot is horrible and is all over the place, the voice acting is not great and the coloring/lighting/camera angles are all ridiculous. At parts the camera keeps moving so fast you can hardly tell what's going on. And unless they meant to film the whole thing in SEPHIA and BLUE then it would deserve the 2 stars I am giving it, otherwise it would get a 1 star as if I wanted to see a 1950's style film, I would have watched one. The Water Creatures may work in a Game, but they definitely don't translate over in DVD form. I really don't know what to say about how BAD this movie really is, except for that it never should have been made. If you want to see a really good independent film see Dragon Hunters and compare the difference. If you want to see a really good CGI movie based on a game then see Resident Evil: Regeneration. This movie is NOT FOR KIDS they will be bored to tears. Avoid this movie if you possibly can it's like the GIGLI of CGI.

Wonderful "Kaena The Prophecy" DVD! 5 Star Review
2009-08-16 - One of my all time favorite anime movies, Kaena The Prophecy is a tale of bravery, adventure, laughter and love. A young girl, Kaena, is determined to save her planet that is quickly dying. She's a tough young woman, determined and eloquent. She is an amazing role model for anime lovers of all ages. I watched it about a year ago for the first time at a friend's home, and am now a very proud and delighted owner. Will watch this movie over and over, plus can hardly wait to share it with my granddaughter, that will be fun.

nicely animated and good story! 4 Star Review
2009-02-05 - I saw this movie a while ago and I liked it then. I am as a hobby a 3d modeler/animater so I love anything done in 3d/cgi. the story was nice too.

Kaena fun for the soul 5 Star Review
2008-04-11 - the CG is truly beautiful in this fun, and exciting cartoon, i was surprised by some of the more adult themes (not sex, or swearing of coarse but the more subtle things) that were in this show, as i think all will be, and highly entertained, a real good movie for all ages.

kaena do not miss this dvd. 5 Star Review
    2007-04-10 - i'll keep this review short.
the film started production back in 1999-2002 using 3dsmax 3 and combustion and was a french/canada production.
the visuals on the whole are stunning and on occasion are as good and better than what pixar were creating back then that's saying a lot for off the shelf software and stunning 3d artists using it.

if your after a good story..your well served here also the voice acting is top banana as well.

one for your collection and for sure you'll re watch it so you'll want to own it not rent it.

also doesn't use your typical hollywood traits which is nice to see.

    great film overall.
