Editorial Review:
With Alive! Kiss created one of the most exciting and essential live albums of all time. Its 1977 sequel, Alive II, failed to measure up for a variety of reasons--including, perversely, the inclusion of an album side of studio material--and it took the band 15 years to return to the well once again. Alive III holds up surprisingly well, though that may be due to reduced expectations for a band that was nearing the end of its "unmasked" period, performing without makeup and without original members Ace Frehley and Peter Criss. Still, Kiss have always excelled onstage, whether through genuine inspiration or mere professionalism. Alive III rocks the house with a generous 16-song selection of material that cuts the chaff from their weaker mid-period studio albums and doesn't neglect fan favorites such as "Rock and Roll All Nite," "Deuce," "Heaven's on Fire," and "Detroit Rock City." --Daniel Durchholz

Alive III Reviews:
DON'T MATTER WHICH VERSION - IT'S KISS 5 Star Review
2009-06-21 - it's kiss live and no matter which version of the band it is, it still smokes.detractors wanna argue that it's not original - don't listen to it.as big of an original KISS fan i am there's no denying the talent of each and every "replacement" member. so no matter which version of the band it is, still rocks. 35 YEARS and counting. not bad for band who they once said would never be around for a second album

As Usual, Anouther Great Kiss Album 4 Star Review
2009-03-11 - Kiss Alive 3 is a very good album. If your a true Kiss fan like I am, you will love this live concert. This composition of live songs sound similar to their original studio recordings. KISS ROCKS !!!

Sorry, okay play list but too much "cleanup" 3 Star Review
2008-10-04 - My Kiss fandom goes back to 1976 and apart from the classics I really enjoyed some newer stuff like the "Rock the Nation" DVD and of course all the Kissology DVDs etc. Favorite Kiss albums include Kiss, Hotter Than Hell, Alive!, Destroyer, Creatures, Unplugged, and Revenge. But "Alive III" just never sat well with me. I always had the feeling, from the very first play, that it was WAYYYYY too cleaned up in the studio.

Out comes Kissology Volume 3 and.... guess what? The Revenge Tour footage in that boxed set is the same concert used for most (if not all) of "Alive III" and you can CLEARLY hear the differences. No doubt about it, they overdubbed A LOT of vocals for "Alive III" and it's less lively because of it.

The only track I really play over and over from "Alive III" is "Watching You." It's great to hear that classic played by Gene, Paul, Bruce, and Eric Singer. They really were probably the most talented performing lineup overall.

I was really glad to have Eric Carr in the lineup, but as a drummer myself I'm convinced that Eric Singer was really the finest drummer the band had on stage. He's very precise and rocks hard but he doesn't go for lots of self-indulgent slamming around. Very crisp, like Alex Van Halen at his peak.

So I say, for the performances just watch 'em on Kissology 3.

Good CD but NOT the Original Alive 1 or 2 3 Star Review
2008-06-17 - This CD rocks for what it is. I can kinda get into it, so it'll stay in my KISS collection. I've written before that i'm a biased 70's era KISS fan and i dislike the most of the 80's stuff and 90's Revenge. BUT this Live CD rocks in it's own right, i gotta say. It doesn't have that Rock and Roll Garage Spirit of the original Line up, But I dig the Energy on this disc, doctored/overdubbed or not. Again, it by no means has the raw power of the original KISS ALIVE...and I miss Ace on these tracks A LOT, but it's a pretty good CD for what it is.

Awsome Live Album 5 Star Review
2007-10-15 - This album has all the energy of the original Alive album with a better clarity of sound. These live versions really kick a** !
