Editorial Review:
Horror-meister John Carpenter (Halloween, Escape from New York) teams Kurt Russell's outstanding performance with incredible visuals to build this chilling version of the classic The Thing. In the winter of 1982, a twelve-man research team at a remote Antarctic research station discovers an alien buried in the snow for over 100,000 years. Soon unfrozen, the form-changing alien wreaks havoc, creates terror and becomes one of them.
The Thing [Blu-ray] Reviews:
the thing revisited
2009-12-21 - i like so much this film, i had problems with the lip sinc of my copy, dunno if it is a localized problem, or a larger scope bug, but it was annoying, some time it was out of sinc, other times didn't. But out of this bug, i found this product quite good.
THE THING......Called BLU RAY!
2009-12-07 - Love it, and on BLU RAY looks cleaner and smoother than EVER! GET IT NOW!
One of the Scariest Movies EVER!!!
2009-12-06 - I grew up enjoying old Monster Movies on TV. The "Thing" was one of my favorites.
The remake, with it's terrifying effects, gave me many new nightmares!!
This is my third home version, already having the VHS and DVD versions.
(I even had an 8 mm copy of the original when I was a kid).
I must say that the sound was EXCELLENT on the new, Blue-Ray disc.
However, the picture clarity didn't seem as fantastically clear as more recent movies that I purchased for my new player.
That said, you will certainly enjoy "The Thing", no matter what format you see it on!

John Carpenter's The Thing
2009-08-27 - I just purchased the Blu-Ray version of The Thing. I have previosly owned this film on laserdisc and DVD. I found the Blu-Ray version to have very sharp color and contrast and to have very clean video. The sound has improved from the DVD version. I compared it to my DVD version played on my PlayStation 3 and the Blu-Ray is definitely an improvement over the DVD. If you are looking for extras, there aren't any.
