Description of Lost in Space (New Line Platinum Series):
Packed with more than 750 dazzling visual effects, this $70 million adventure does more (and less) than give the 1965-68 TV series a state-of-the-art face-lift. Aimed at an audience that wasn't born when the series originally aired, the sci-fi extravaganza doesn't even require familiarity, despite cameo appearances by several of the TV show's original cast members. Instead it's a high-tech hybrid of the original premise with enough sensory overload to qualify as a spectacular big-screen video game, supported by a time-travel premise that's adequately clever but hardly original. It's certainly never boring, and visually it's an occasionally awesome demonstration of special effects technology. But in its attempt to be all things to all demographics, the movie's more of a marketing ploy than a satisfying adventure, thankfully dispensing with the TV show's cheesy camp but otherwise squandering a promising cast in favor of eye-candy and ephemeral storytelling. In keeping with the movie's high-tech appeal, the DVD is a feature-packed marvel, including two audio commentaries, deleted scenes, two featurettes covering special effects and the original TV series (featuring complete biographies and episode guides), the original screenplay, and interactive games. --Jeff Shannon

Lost in Space (New Line Platinum Series) Reviews:
    movie 5 Star Review
2009-07-08 - The movie's great came in just in time no scratches of any kind nothing more or less.

Not shakespear but fun 4 Star Review
2009-06-26 - If you go into this movie expecting sublime plots or whatever, then you're doomed to dissapointment, if you go in, just expecting a fun movie, then it can be a lot of fun. It is in no way, other than a few homages, tied to the original TV series, so don't go expecting it to be a continuation. It's not. It's a stand-alone story, and, as such, stands alone. It's typical summer scifi action movie fare, and for the day, the CGI was really good. Now it's dated, and suffers in comparison, but CGI always does that. Overall, a fun movie. Interestingly enough, this version had a lot about french subtitles and features, so I am guessing this is the french export version, no problems, just thought I would put that out there.

Lost in Space (New Line Platinum Series) 5 Star Review
    2009-02-16 - DVD was entertaining.
DVD arrived in a very timely fashion.
    DVD arrived in excellent condition.

Delightful and retrospectively endearing 4 Star Review
2009-01-30 - This film will invite viewers that remember the original series, however, the film is superior to the original series, as it approaches the same subject matter and objective of the original series, however, in a much more intelligent manner. The characters are not so much embellished, as they are enhanced and refined, and sometimes somewhat dumbed down. This film is highly entertaining, and William Hurt does not let down, the film is also child friendly, albeit, it is fairly intelligent. There are some cameos by the previous series actors, several of them actually, and this does not let down either. The film touches everyone, fans of the original series, and persons who have never known or seen the original.
