    Jacob (The Bible Collection) Reviews:
God teaches us lessons in life 5 Star Review
2009-10-12 - Hello, regarding the movie Jacob. In this movie Jacob is the one who talks to God and the one who can heal the sick also, the one whom his mother loves. Esaw is his brother a hunter, and the one whom his father loves. In this movies we are all taught a lesson that if you do something bad the Lord will teach us a lesson. Although as it turns out the Lord was working for the good in this. Jacob learns the value of family and so does Esaw. Jacob put his self in slavery for seven whole years to finally marry the woman he loves. The lord told him that his children will be as the sand so many. That he would have a child from Rebbeca. Rebbeca didn't believe the Lord. She gave her hand maiden to Jacob, because she was jealous of her sister who already had given Jacob 12 children. It goes to say that you must believe in something more than yourself. The Lord is good, and we must believe what he says.

    Thanks,

    Dorothy

It is ok, better than the other Jacob movies: err I don't think there are many. 3 Star Review
2009-04-18 - I watched this last night and overall it was pretty well done, but what bothered me to give it only three stars where the horrible acting that the sons of Laban had in the movie. Also what was really disappointing is that Jacob went straight over to Rachel when it was different in the bible as some of you may know. The running time was sort of sad too, I wish it could have gone on longer and extended but sometimes you just can't. All and all it was much better than watching some of the stuff on television today.

A Good Story 4 Star Review
2009-01-23 - This is a true love story and one that I think is very imporant for anyone who's ever had to work hard for love. Jacob is the son of Isaac, but was born just a few seconds too late. He has a twin brother whom he ends up have to betray, along with is father, in order to get the inheritance her mother feels should belong to him.

This movie, made for TV, does the story real justice. It tells the love story of Jacob and Leah and shows that true love conquerors all and is willing to work hard. I think that's a lesson missing in many modern relationships. Real love takes work!

It's also a story of forgiveness and mercy because Esau, Jacob's brother, eventually forgives him for what he did to him.

Modine plays a very good Jacob and I felt he connected with the character. I also felt the supporting cast was very good also. The costumes and setting helped to move this story along without being distracting.

    Good family film too.

    Great presentation! 5 Star Review
2008-11-29 - We really enjoy all of The Bible Collection movies and this one was one of the better ones. Great presentation, great Biblical interpretation!

Lacking in Biblical accuracy 1 Star Review
2008-06-16 - I have seen some of the other movies from the Bible collection like Joseph and Esther and they seemed to try to stay fairly close to the biblical account. This movie on the other hand was constantly irritating for anyone that is familiar with the real story of Jacob. Several parts were way off and even ridiculous. For one, as soon as Jacob meets Rachel he immediately kisses her passionately on the lips and she takes off running away and Jacob chases after her and comes to Laban's house. In the Bible Jacob greeted her with a kiss which was a normal and traditional greeting and they were so overjoyed to run into each other that Rachel ran back to Laban's house and told him that Jacob had come and then Laban ran out to meet Jacob and welcome him with joy. Then another very disturbing aspect of the movie was that Esau is constantly saying damn this and damn that and damn you which is absurd and extra-biblical to say the very least. One more part that was far off was the meeting of Jacob and Esau when Jacob heads back home. In the Bible Esau ran to embrace his brother with love and joy but in the movie he comes to him angry and puts a sword to his neck and says that if it was not for God he would kill Jacob. Just for all the cursing and foolish lust it portrays this one is going in the garbage can. Save yourself some money and skip over it.
